Totsie
I was banded on May 10th over a gastric by pass that was done in 2000. I have been starving and haven't felt no restriction, whatsoever. I have been sore, so I haven't worked out. I finally went to the gym last night and weighed myself and haven't lost a pound. I started the tread mill last night and walked 2 miles today (5/20). I feel better and don't feel as hungry. I don't understand why I feel so hungry when my pouch is small. My stoma had opened, so I gained a lot weight. I know the exercise will help kick start the weight loss (prayerfully)...what can I do to contain the hunger? Any suggestions,

Any suggestions, Congrats on getting banded, hunger is a normal feeling at the end of the liquids phase. Once you can start solid foods, you will feel more satisfied. Until then, I suggest taking some fiber chew tablets that will help with the hunger. Takes the edge off. Are you drinking protein shakes and eating creamy soups? Welcome to band land and hope these last days go by quickly. Angie
damalove
Hi Totsie. If you were banded a week and a half ago, you're still on liquids, right? Some people took metamucil/fiber capsules to help with hunger, I just drank soups and protein drinks. I think by day ten you're go for full liquids, right? Play with different protein drinks to see how that helps. I dont like the fake-sugar taste in just about any protein drink I tried, so I was happy to have Carnation Instant Breakfast, where you add milk instead of water. I'd go to starbucks and order an iced tall latte in a grande cup, then stir in my carnation packets, super delicious and fended off hunger for HOURS. For other meal suggestions, try the Recipes board in the Diet/Nutrition forum, you may find some that help. I went to the library and checked out a weight watchers cookbook and made some of the pureed soups. I know the docs say no purees, but I think they meant not to take somethign thick like say chilli or chicken and dumplings and puree them, not soups per se... Anyway I made a WW broccoli cheddar soup, the thai carrot soup, potato leek soup, stuff like that. Look especially for soups that have silken tofu as an ingredient; you can get it at any big supermarket... it thickens like cream while adding protein and very few calories. I will post the tomato soup to the recipe board now, I dont have the thai carrot one handy, but it might already be there. Anyway, best of luck with the hungries, just try to keep in mind this is temporary!! Hang in there

Totsie
Thanks for the response. I am also trying to figure out...why I haven't lost any weight. Is it because of the fluid intake? I know the exercise will help me. Hopefully next week I will see a difference. My fill is scheduled for July at the OCC, which I look forward too. My husband and I were really impressed with OCC. The only downside was coming back across the boarder. We almost missed the plane.

This may not be the case, but I've heard others who have had a second WLS say things about loosing more slowly. Also the lapband is way different than GB in the speed of WL. GB you dump a good portion of your weight in the 1st 6 months.
Totsie
I finally lost 9 lbs. I started excercising....walking approximately 2 miles a day. I will increase the walk, once I start eating again. I am only doing the treadmill at the gym for now. I can't wait to begin aerobics and start back with my personal trainer (it's been a year since I seen him)
AngieB
Yay for the WL! That gives you a boost to keep the momentum up! I hear ya on limiting your movement. I did not exercise at all when on liquids.....I am a baby though, so good for you! Your personal trainer will be happy to see you again too! Woo hoo! I have a group of gal pal at work. We get together and walk over our lunch hour. It is so nice. Average walk is 30-50 mins, which is so nice! We have different routes so some are more intense than others! It works out so great and helps me get my movement in for the day! Keep up posted on your progress!

Also, you don't feel restriction, because you haven't had a fill yet! Once you get your fill, things will be completely different, and your caloric intake will probably go down by half. But really, the proof is in the pudding, so to speak. Please post your diet.
