Christall
I have been having a hard time eating anything for the last few weeks. Today I discovered if I eat standing up I can eat my little portion without PBing . Hmm.. I have done this too on days when I feel that my band is too tight. Sometimes I take my food over to the counter and munch as I do dishes...I think sometimes it is just the stress of mealtimes with a toddler! Smiley
It kinda makes sense. I know for me I have to stand up when something gets stuck which sometimes help it go down. I also know that if I give up and bend over that the end will soon be near, so I try to remain as upright as possible.
damalove
I know im new to this band thing, but having to stand to eat? Really? Doesnt that seem excessive? Im prepared to make necessary sacrifices, tiny bites, chewing a lot, no drinking after meals, but having to stand seems a bit much, doesnt it? You are at a restaurant and have to stand to get your food down... If this were me, I'd consider a slight unfil. Seems too tight. Just my opinion... skinnyagain
I have been known to stand up during a meal to allow that darn pain to go away..Ya know the one that is knocking at your throat cause you thought you could eat that last bite, and you know you shouldn't but you did and now your paying for it...ya that one.!!!Sometimes a small pretend stroll to the car to pretend to get something out of it, and walking back takes the pain away... Games we all play with our band! Kim

There are MANY different factors to living with the band.....fickle, fickle little biotch it can be. We all have tricks and tips up our sleeves to cope with a situation. You will be a player too once you hit a decent level or restriction. Here is an example. My band has loosened up and I have been feeling great. Today....high stress and tension in my body.....food...hmmm have to be careful....stress tightens my band. So, you deal with it. Sometimes my TOM will tighten my band.....sometimes not. So in the months where I get snug, I deal. Otherwise I will be filling, unfilling, filling, unfilling. So many facsets affect the band.....you will understand more when you get more experience under your belt. Life happens. The band is not a steady device.... One day you can have steak, the next - no so much....two days later.....you can have steak again....just fickle.
EcMjawad1
Hi all, Angie thanks for your comments especially for those of us who are newbies. I am glad to see that some of the things I feel day to day are "normal." A recent feeling I have had is after walking or exercising a feeling of tightness with the band and some nausea..anyone have this? and if so what do you suggest. Thanks all, Michele

Are you stressed....that can cause swelling. Many factors can affect the band. I would suggest since you are having large flexuations, you begin a band journal. Something you can jot down when you are tight, what is happening that day, and if you have had any issues eating. Being proactive will help you identify problems. Hope this helps! ValleyGirl
I wouldn't be in a rush to go to the OCC for this. Like Angie said, it is FICKLE. I have days where I am wide open and can eat and eat and eat then I suddenly get restriction again. I think it's impossible to get perfect restriction all the time- just listen to your body day to day, eat accordingly, and leave yourself some "wiggle room" with the band so that you are not having to get filled and unfilled constantly because you are too tight, getting things stuck, swelling up, etc. That's what leads to slipped bands. I think if you have the odd incident where you need to stand up when eating, that's fine (I sometimes have to hold my hands above my head for a few minutes to help it go down)but you shouldn't have to stand all the time when you are eating. The first year is a learning curve. You'll find the place that is right for you soon enough I'm sure. Take care. Sabrina:)
