damalove
Hi all. I am exactly two months post op, and Im wondering what your scarring situation is like? My incision sites are dark pink, Im wondering does that lighten with time? If you wear a two-piece bathing suit, do people notice your scars? When would you stay they lightened or went away? Im hoping since im still pretty young they will go away, but curious if theres anything i should be doing to help it. my mom says put vitamin E on the scars, Ive seen commercials for scar cream, etc. Thanks. Random story: when I was 19 I went to Australia/New Zealand for a 5 week find-myself-and-find-my-path sort of backpacking trip. i had just gone thru a breakup, my parents were getting divorced, my sister had just gotten married and moved away, had a falling out with my high school friends, etc. the trip was amazing, came home changed my major, quit my job, got on track, all that. anyway i had gotten Scuba certified the year before, so while in northern australia went on a dive of the great barrier reef. i got paired up with a random guy who was also travelling solo (you always have to have a dive buddy just in case) but he turned out to be obnoxious. as we were diving, we approached a cave. i was going in first but as we were entering the cave i guess he wanted to get in before me, so he sped up and swam under me, shoving me into the roof of the cave. i felt my leg scrape, but was more pissed than anything, what a jerk! when we got back onto the boat, my leg was streaming blood, even though it didnt hurt. I ended up with a really rad scar, i liked to show people my 'great barrier reef hardcore scar' something kinda badass about it. well, after a few years, it was gone. no cool jagged scar to show off anymore!!! anyway long story short, i have a history of scars fading, even against my wishes so im hoping my incision scars fade too... ok, storytime over
EricaG
love the story... i don't know about the scar situation. mine are light pink right now. so i'm curious to find out what replies you get. i don't care much about wearing a two piece anymore... i got really ugly stretch marks on my tummy this time i gained weight. but i would like to if my marks fade. i heard bio oil really worked for some people...if i may add. not from a personal experience tho. Smiley
I used vitamin E oil and 2+ years out mine are just a thin white line that really isn't very visible. They could be seen if I were to wear a bikini, but you would have to look hard. The ones on my arm from my arm lift however are another story. The good news is that my scars usually take 15-18 months to completely heal, so there is still hope. However, my plastic surgeon said that it can sometimes take up to two years for scars to heal. If your leg did that well I am guessing these scars will as well.
jhawkchick75
Everyone is so different so it is hard to say, but the only one of mine you can see anymore is the large one and it isn't very visible. I also don't forsee me ever being in a bikini, but who knows! I took some pics a long time ago i'll see if I kept them. I've been tanning and when I am that makes mine less visible. EcMjawad1
Hi, I too am two months out and really the only one I can see is the port scar..I heal pretty well from scars. I have had a pacemaker since 25 for a hereditary heart condition and each time they go in and cut me..but those fade too... Funny story to add to yours...my 22 year old daughter had her band placed in January and went back to college...while changing a shirt off the soccer field some guy friend of hers saw the port scar and asked about it...she told told him she was stabbed at a wild party and he believed it! hahahaa....now shes known as a bad ass... Smiley
Tummy wise, I may have the top spot in regards to scars. 5 for the lapband, 3 for the gallbladder and 2 for the tummy tuck as well as 3 more a wee bit lower. The port incision was part of what was removed with the tummy tuck, but that scar goes from hip to hip. I think I might have a tattoo put over it some day - yes, I am starting to feel a little rebellious. My will be red two weeks from tonight. jhawkchick75
Found my pic and it is from 6 mos out so that will give you a good idea. My scars are even more faded now and really you can only barely see the large one. But again it is so person to person on how you scar but this gives you an idea on my experience. jennyontheblock
My daughter had a large cut on her check below her eye that required 7 stiches. We used Mederma for scars and it worked great.
