Post-op pain meds?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone!

My surgery is scheduled for June 17. I am wondering what kind of pain meds they give you when you leave the clinic and how many. I am flying from Washington but my dad will be driving us both back up here after I am discharged - so I am wondering how uncomfortable I will be in a car for long periods for a few days.

Also - where does everyone get those ticker things for weight loss tracking? They're really cool!

Thanks!

Misty

Hi again,

Well, the OCC will give you pain meds that you place under your tongue, they seem to work pretty good. After that your own your own. I found bringing along Tylenol extra strength rapid release also helped for the times I needed a bit more but really after the third day I was fine as long as I didn't roll on the wounds in my sleep. If you look at our ticker's you will see the website along the top or bottom..they are free go check em out. I will be down at the OCC on June 14th with my daughter for our second fills...

I also got an extra batch of what the OCC gave me and it helped for the long plane ride home which was nice. After that I did some liquid meds which tasted like hell, but did the trick!

In terms of the ticker go to http://www.tickerfactory.com and there is a weight loss ticker. They give you several options to cut and paste, but use the one that has "IMG" in the code.

Welcome and good luck!!!

How did you get extra? Just at the pharmacy?

How did you get extra? Just at the pharmacy?

I was banded on May 24 and I live in British Columbia. I went to Walmart Pharmacy in Tijuana and got the Supra Dol 30Mg over the counter. Walmart is the closest to the Marriott if you are staying there, Also if you are staying at the Marriott, ricardo the driver for the Marriott if you tip him can very very accomodating. I would not want to drive down there the drivers down there are "crazy", I wondered each day with the way they drive there were no accidents.

Made the mistake of getting what I thought was the same supra dol, at Costco and it was only 10MG. I had very little pain and very little gas. I have one more week of the full liquid diet and then not sure what to eat. I am currently using the Glucerna, soups, water, homemade fruit popsiclces and am not hungry. Started out at 260lbs, and today am down to 239 lbs.

for the ride home I just had a little cushion that was about 9 inches square to protect my incisons from the seatbelt on the plane and car.

Watch your bowels before surgery and eat lightly, I found that after the surgery I got plugged up and Dr. Marinez had to give me a little help to get unplugged.
