Vitamins & Supplements

Recommended Posts

I am wondering if there are any other bandsters that take large vitamins or supplements and how that goes. I used to take EFA (Essential Fatty Acid) capsules and they are quite large. I'm not sure about taking them now but I would like to if I can. If you take them do them get broken down in the pouch or do they have to go through the stoma and they could get stuck? Anyone who has any experience or into on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

At the beginning, I had no issues with pills/medication.

If anything, a multi-vit is necessary.

Everything else is a plus.

It wasn't until about a year into it, and my band was much more snug, that it became more of an issue.

Don't worry about it, unless it becomes an issue.

I can't take my med's in the morning. I'm just too tight.

Hi,

For 25 years I have been on heart meds for a hereditary contion..I was pretty worried since the pill is a healthy size. After surgery I was told to cut the pill in half for the first week..after that so far so good..but I do have a pill splitter if I need it..as for vitamins I take a liquid multi--just easier to get down and on my stomach which is pretty sensitive to vitamins..so far so good there to..as everything take it slow and see how your body does.

I take the Centrum chewable multi vitamin as well as viactive calcium chews and that is about it. When I get put on meds I always ask how big the pill is, but as of yet I haven't had any trouble getting them down.

I've had my calcuim pill stay in my pouch a few times. Very suprising when it happens. Each time I had to relieve myself of the liquid I drank that wasn't passing. Over all I rarely have an issue....

Know this....there have been people who have gotten a pill stuck and had to have an unfil. So it can happen. I tend to cut my calcuim pills now....cept when I forget. I try to help myself as much as possible so I don't have a horror story to report!
