I went to Dr Ortiz at the Obesity control center in Tijuana. Lots of us on this board have. I am a REgistered nurses and manager of a large unit in a Canadian Hospital and I can honestly say I have never seen a cleaner facility, more professional staff or top of the art medical facility and OR.

I highly recommend Dr Ortiz

Hi Mike - I did option 2. It was 2 shakes and a lean meal. I struggled with sticking to the diet. In the end, I lost my required weight, but it was not a breeze.

I am not trying to be a downer, but it is the truth. I have struggled with my connection with food.....I knew I was emotionally connected, but to the extent I found I was....well it was a real eye opener.

You will do fine, put your best foot forward. Remember you have the rest of your life to eat.

Keep posting.....it really helps.

I did the protein shakes with vegetables and lean protein for one meal a day. I used HMR shakes which only have around 100 calories each, so I was allowed to do more than 2 shakes a day, which definitely helped. I also had lots of salad with 0-calorie dressing. The liquid shakes definitely helped get me ready for the 3 weeks of liquid I had to do for 3 weeks after the sleeve surgery. Best of luck.
