Alberta Government Reimbursement

Just wanted to let anyone in Alberta, Canada know that the government will reimburse you about 1600 when you claim your surgery costs. Another great thing is claiming it on the following years income tax, should get tons of money back from that as well.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but how do you claim it? When you submit your taxes? I'm in Alberta, please share the details

I am here in Tijuana right now. Had my surgery May 24 and am now down for my first fill. Have lost over 30 lbs since. Dr. Miranda says that by next June or before I will lose at least another 70 lbs. They say my progress is just great.

I will be writing off all the costs of my surgery, travel, meals and fills on my income tax for 2010 before the end of April 2011. I live in BC, so the BC government will not reimburse, but it was still cheaper than going to Vancouver and paying $18,000.

I am a professional bookkeeper/tax preparer in Canada so if anyone is not sure how to write this off in Canada, email me and I will help you.

Thanks Tristessa.... Im in Calgary for another fill tomorrow, I always think of you when I go there. This time Im NOT hitting that coach store -LOL

That's a big chunk of change I would have never known to claim. Thank you to everyone on this tread for mentioning this, Im a girl on a budget, this will help me out tremendously.

I sent my forms in today, with the surgery report and receipt hopefully that's sufficient.

But up to 12 WEEKS to process that baby....WOWZA
