DrCif
I am 4 days post-op...the first 3 days seemed to go really easy and I didn't really feel hunger...now onto day 4 and it's like my body is starting to revolt. I have not cheated. Did you all go thru this too or was it relatively easy. Thank goodness the fear of slipping my band has kept me in check but I thought the post op information said we wouldn't feel hunger during this stage. I've been doing the protein water, gatorade, broths, etc but I feel like my head is just weak and almost dizzy. I thought 21 days wouldn't be that bad but feeling like this at day 4 makes me really nervous. HELP!
breeze32
You need to get creative, once you can have creamy soups life will be much easier. I will tell you what got me through ws a balck bean bisque it is an organic boxed soup. I would put spicy cheese in it and melt it. mmmmmmm so good and really helped with my "food" cravings. You will get through it. Some people have no problem and others are chewing and spitting it out just to feel like they have eaten something solid. Which I have done on a few occasions Hang in there and look up some ideas others have had for the liquid phase there are some great ideas hiding within this forum. I am not sure what it was. So I took that to mean I was hungry. It went away on about the 6th day and is making the remaining days of the liquid diet bearable. I have 6 days left. Once you get to day 4 to 6, start on the cream soups and protein shakes and you will be good! I am losing about a pound every other day. Up to 17lbs. DrCif
I started the liquid yogurt last night which they said we could start at day 4 if needed and I felt so much better...it was like a fog was lifted from my brain. This morning things continue to seem better...enough to give me a little peace of mind that I can do this! I have to go back to work in a few days and couldn't imagine being able to perform (without liability)at the mental stage I was yesterday. Thank you everyone for your encouragement. thinagainandforever
I am on day 19 of liquids - only 2 days left until I can eat oatmeal. I have gotten through this by being somewhat creative. All kinds of soups - lobster bisque, roasted tomato and garlic soup, miso soup, etc. Also, melted frozen yogurt or soy ice cream. Yogurt drinks. You will get through it. EcMjawad1
Hi all, Creativity is key! The stomach growling was a whole new world for me..and I constantly told myself..I am not going to die from being being hungry, but I might from being overweight...now 4 months out the growling still occurs when I am hungry, but I am used to it..I never allowed myself to feel it before...the black bean soup was a life saver, so were the yogurts..and I hate to say later on you will still find yourself having your soups and yogurts...in the AM when the band is tightest, that's all I can tolerate..it is a learning curve..the whole process, and each step..keep coming here you will find great ideas and support.. RevyD
One day at a time. Keep your mind on the goal and don't dwell on how long it is before you can eat food. Try variety of liquids etc. Things you have never tried before. Be creative and remember you did this for a lifestyle change. This 21 days is the beginning of your new lifestyle so stick with it no matter what. It is key to your band healing properly Debbie
robbynnoel
(((((((((((((((Hugs DrCif)))))))))))))))) I hear you. I was very dissy and disoriented after the surgery. I should have called the OCC straight away, but instead I suffered in silence. Finally I contacted them and they told me to see my primary care Dr because based on my symptoms, it sounded as if my blood pressure was low. In my case, literally I couldn't even stand in the shower without feeling as if I was going to faint. Sure enough, within just a few weeks of the surgery, my need for the blood pressure meds changed. My only regret is that I didn't call the OCC and ask for assistance sooner. I think I didn't call until 4 weeks post op...yep, I suffered in silence, convinced something would magically change. Because I was so dizzy and I refused to ask for help, I did start solids a few days early. I think I made it to day 18 or 19. When eating solid food didn't take away the dizzyness, I knew I was in trouble...so that's what finally got me to call. xo I am 4 days post-op...the first 3 days seemed to go really easy and I didn't really feel hunger...now onto day 4 and it's like my body is starting to revolt. lovesMaui
I want to thank all of you for sharing your tips on how you got through this liquid phase of the diet. I am on day 5 and it has been pure hell for me. I felt hunger pains immediately after surgery. My stomach has been growling LOUD ever since. Mental hunger? How can it be, when it HURTS so bad? Feels physical to me. On the 4rth day, broth was literally gagging me. I went ahead and drank a tiny bit of the liquid yogurt. That did help. Am I doing damage to my band though? I had some liquid yogurt again today. Dr. Miranda says "If you can't drink it, don't eat it." But some of you ate frozen yogurt, is that ok?
