tijuana- what to do

Recommended Posts

I am getting ready for my trip in two weeks and I am wondering what would be fun to do while we are in tiajuana. We are really excited about this trip and have never been so we would love to know what to do while in town. Also, what did the person that came with you do while you were staying in the clinic overnight? My last question is for those that have gone recently, everytime I tell someone I am going to tiajuana they kinda freak out and tell me it is not safe, so my question is how is it really? Thanks everyone, I am really excited and love the information and support that this forum gives.

I went on 8/3/10 and did not have any feeling of unsafe. My friend came to the clinic with me the day of my surgery and other than going out for lunch while I had surgery, she stayed there the whole time I was there. I was able to go back to the hotel that night so we both left the clinic around 4 that afternoon and went walking at the hotel. There is a casino within a mile of the Marriott, which was kinda fun. The next day we went to Revolutionary Avenue and shopped for 4 hours. Hope this helps

Congrats on your surgical date! You are going to have a blast in Tijuana! I went to Wal-Mart and stocked up on bottled water and also went to Revolutionary Avenue, which was really fun! I didn't get to go to the casino, but I hope to on another trip to Tijuana. The Marriott was a great place to stay and they really took care of us there. The restaurant has a special "Dr. Ortiz" menu where patients can eat free broth, apple juice, and popsicles during their stay! Good luck!!

Mark :D

i'm going to tj in january for my surgery, but i will be going alone. One thought i had was...while i'm in surgery where is all my stuff...ie...passport, wallet, money. kind of worried about it. any ideas?

Your stuff is in your room. No need to worry, it's a lot easier to get to patient's room in hospitals in the US than at the OCC. No stranger can just walk in off of the street like they can in our clinics or hospitals.

I was actually worried about the employees maybe taking my money I'm not trying to be rude but u hear about this kind of stuff happening.

I think once you meet everybody there, the worry will be gone. They feel like family.

Once you are at the Clinic I think you will understand that there is absolutley no reason to worry about your possesions. My husband was banded on March 9,2009. I was banded here in the US and have had problems so I am going to have my band removed and hopefully rebanded on Oct.27th. The staff at OCC are great...No need to worry.

hi tag! surgery day, how'd it go?

my favorite thing to do in TJ is take a taxi to plaza rio (outdoor shopping center close to occ/lucerna but you wont be well enough to walk) and watch a movie at hte VIP theater. there are two cinepolis movie theaters in this shopping center, go to the VIP one, its only $2 more i think, but you get assigned seating like on teh airplane, with fully reclining leather seats and waiter service. it ROCKS! sitting after surgery got uncomfortable but this was a perfect diversion bc i could recline.
