ATLMark Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 Has anyone had trouble eating grilled chicken? Even the smallest piece gets stuck in my throat after it has been chewed a bunch. I haven't had a fill yet and I was wondering if this gets worse the tighter the band gets. I have prepared grilled chicken many different ways and continue to have the issue of it getting stuck. I always appreciate everyone's kindness and support. Thanks!!! Mark
DwayneH Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 i have 4 cc's in my 11 cc band and have never had any trouble with grilled chicken and we eat it about 3 times a week. The chicken we buy cooks up really moist so i dont know if that has anything to do with it.

petrafarmer Posted October 15, 2010 Report Posted October 15, 2010 I have trouble with chicken if it's too dry.
shmee Posted October 15, 2010 Report Posted October 15, 2010 yeah mark, marinate, a nice fat free italian dressing, or cook in a lowfat sauce, crushed tomatoes and garlic, and italitan seasoning, like baking in a sauce, just find a way to get it moist, even if you marinate, and instead of grilling, bake it in something with a tight lid and some moisture,a little pam spray, a little water, some of your marinade. this could be done in a toaster over even. Or if you prefer you could get a nice, none plastic, lided microwave pan, good luck.
Bandiva Posted October 15, 2010 Report Posted October 15, 2010 Yummy, that made me hungry! At OCC now, hubby just got banded. Yay!
RevyD Posted October 16, 2010 Report Posted October 16, 2010 Hi Mark. I have never had any trouble with chicken unless it is dry. If it is moist I never have a problem Deb
Lindsay Posted October 16, 2010 Report Posted October 16, 2010 yeah mark, marinate, a nice fat free italian dressing Just be cautious of store bought non fat salad dressings - the fat is replaced with sugar and sodium. One of the main ingredients that make a fat-free dressing taste great is high fructose corn syrup. This stuff maybe sweet, but it's extremely unhealthy. High fructose corn syrup is a man-made toxin.
dewrob Posted October 21, 2010 Report Posted October 21, 2010 well i have bought those microwave steam bags and put chicken in there and it comes out moist everytime, you actually dont even need any extra calories with it. plain and simple.

nothereanymore Posted October 22, 2010 Report Posted October 22, 2010 Those are the best - and I always have the boxes of chicken broth on hand to steam it - makes them nice and juicy. Make sure you are cutting them up in thin little bites - it really helps - and eat it slow..... Best, Lisa
flaggirl Posted October 22, 2010 Report Posted October 22, 2010 I have problems with chicken a lot, doesn't matter how much I chew it. I just avoid it, not worth it.

Well maybe you are eating it too fast, that is my major problem i need to make sure i slow down i just remember slower than a baby. it took me 2months to realize im eating way to fast.
CindyLou Posted October 23, 2010 Report Posted October 23, 2010 If I have restriction I cannot eat any chicken AT ALL! So I have really given up on eating chicken--ever!!
LisaLaw Posted November 2, 2010 Report Posted November 2, 2010 That's great advice! Thanks! I always get the roasted chicken from Costco or Fred Meyer and then portion it out. I have not been able to eat dried out grilled chicken for two years...nor am I going to drench it in sauce to get it down. The roasted chickens are always crazy moist and do not require sauce dipping

I can't eat chicken if I cook it. It gets stuck and I am miserable for hours.
medic9601 Posted November 2, 2010 Report Posted November 2, 2010 I have the same problem with chicken. I can sometimes get it down if it is cut up into VERY small pieces but even then it is a maybe. So, I have pretty much given up on it for the time being.
