denali
I just had the procedure done on October 21st and am doing well. Wanted to check in with other recent patients to see how they are doing and what options they ate, any ideas they have on the "mushies" and general well-being. Any headaches? LisaLaw
So I am just curious. one of our bandster sisters has had her band since Spring of 2008. she is thinking of having it removed and getting a plication done, since she has not lost any weight in a year. Have either of you had a band? Hope you are feeling great! I have no idea what a plication is, but it sounds like the hot new thing.

Regena22
I am scheduled for the band on the 12th but now I am confused. Should I get plication instead?
denali
well, I can't speak to anyone else and who should opt for what procedure BUT I'm so so so glad that I changed my mind at the last second and went with the plication procedure. It is totally reversible...no cuts....or things removed....my stomach is just pretty much tapered/hemmed up an sutured into place so that the "open" portion of my stomach is a fraction of what it used to be. I don't have to go for any adjustments, fills, or other doctor appointments. I've lost 12 pounds in 10 days. No real hunger...no cravings...plenty of energy....very pleased. Do your research before you go there...call one of the surgeons....make sure you make the right choice. I was all scheduled for Band but changed and did Plication a mere 2 hours before my surgery. If my best friend or family member was going to have a WLS done, I would tell them do the Plication---NO DOUBT.

denali
The first 5-6 days were a bit rough but mostly just the gas pains---sharp sometime almost like contractions in your back and chest. After day 6 or 7, it's golden. Not hungry...energy...just fine. My plane ride was almost 5 hours so that in and of itself was terrible. I won't kid you---the day of surgery and the next 1-2 days are pretty uncomfortable...but it passes soon enough!! So excit4ed for you....YOU WILL LOVE IT!!!!! CanuckGirl
I just had the procedure done on October 21st and am doing well. Wanted to check in with other recent patients to see how they are doing and what options they ate, any ideas they have on the "mushies" and general well-being. Any headaches? I had the procedure on the 28th. I too am suffering from headaches. It's day six and the headache isn't quite as bad. I'm not sure if it's the caffeine withdrawls or the medication. But I am feeling much better everyday.
denali
Two weeks post-surgery. Doing great. No hunger. Diet consists of 3 protein shakes a day, water and vitamin enhanced water, sugar free clear beverages, broth, and creamy fat free soups (no chunks) 3 times a week. This is so flipping simple and NO side effects or sickness thus far! Heart burn gone, headaches gone, sleeping peacefully, plenty of energy, losing about half a pound to a pound per day. Down 15 lbs from pre-op.
dwaynemaul
Hi, I'm scheduled for January to have the Gastric Sleeve Plication surgery and a little nervous after reading about the pain some of you have experienced, would it be better to stay back a few extra days before travelling home ( 5-6 hour travel ), is this an un-bearable pain, where your out of breath or like pain associated with bad travellers diarrhea? The lady I spoke to from another clinic said she experienced only mild gas pains? Do they give you anything for the gas pains you have? Just how much pain do you experience or does this depend on the individual?, anyone out there experience no or little pain? Muchas Gracias, Senior Dwayne
crazymomma
You can buy extra meds from the pharmacies for the plane ride home. I would do that before staying longer plus it's cheaper

Just how much pain do you experience or does this depend on the individual?, anyone out there experience no or little pain? Muchas Gracias, Senior Dwayne The pain is minimal. I flew for four hours then connected and took another hour flight. It feels like you've done a hundred sit ups the day before - so just a little tender. I had the surgery ten days ago and so far it's been great. No pain and my tiny scars are almost gone. The surgery was no worse than a root canal. My BMI wasn't that high and I'm in good health. This may contribute to a quick recovery. Each person may be different.
