lovesMaui
I think this has been addressed before, but I am freaking out over my hair falling out!!!!!!! I had lap band surgery 4 months ago. I take a multi vitamin every day, eat 3 meals a day and get plenty of protein. Why is this happening? When does it stop? I normally have thick hair and now it's thin. I am so sick and tired of strands of hair on my clothes, furniture, pillows, etc. It's the worst when I brush it or shampoo it! Has this happened to anyone else? Please tell me I won't end up bald!

lovesMaui
Hi dama!! I knew you would be there for me! I'm not sure how many grams of protein I'm getting each day. I know I eat protein first with all 3 meals. It's good to know your hair loss has decreased with time. Do you know what causes it?
nothereanymore
I make sure I’m getting protein everyday at least 60 grams for me, and I also take biotion: http://www.drugstore.com/search/search_results.asp?N=0&Ntx=mode%2Bmatchallpartial&Ntk=All&srchtree=1&Ntt=BIOTION&Go.x=11&Go.y=17 You can get it at most grocery or health food stores. It takes some time so you have to have patience and be good about taking it. My favorite protein shake and I’ve been taking this for years and talking about it here is the Isopoure Dutch Chocolate http://www.drugstore.com/natures-best-low-carb-isopure-dutch-chocolate/qxp162468 Again, you can pick this up other places as well. One shake has 50 grams of protein so I drink this in the morning and don’t have to worry about being light on my protein. When I felt like I really needed help I used the hair growth shampoo, some love it - some hate it.http://www.drugstore.com/qxp165827/ds_laboratories/revita_high_performance_hair_growth_stimulating_shampoo.htm?fromsrch=Nexxus+hair+loss I felt like it energized my scalp and I liked it - but truth be told I think getting the protein and vitamins - along with more sleep is really what fixes hair loss. And remember stress adds to it so during the Holidays take some time to relax - due breathing exercise and if you can take a lignt yoga class and just focus on you and enjoy!
lovesMaui
Lisa, This is so very helpful! Thank you so much! All of this info is exactly what I needed. I'm so glad you responded. By the way, I've been meaning to tell you how amazing you look. You are such an inspiration to me. It feels impossible to me to one day be transformed into how you look, but it is my goal. You really look fantastic!

Lisa, Just wanted to thank you for the "push". I have not been diligent enough about drinking my protein shot in the morning and definitely need to. I just used your link to order a month's supply and am committing to have one a morning. Thanks again
lovesMaui
Lisa, I used the link and ordered my Isopure protein too!
EcMjawad1
Hi all, Thanks for all the comments regarding hair loss and protein..Funny I should read this around this time since I have realized that I slowly slipped back into some bad habits, namely not getting enough protein in. I have added two Atkins shakes to my day and now four days latter I am feeling better..more energy less sluggishness. I still have not figured out the right amount of protein but I have noticed that over 60 grams makes me feel much better. I will try the link you gave for the isopure, in the past this product upset my stomach and I noticed that even the Atkins shakes can do the same. I am pretty dairy/wheat intolerant..any suggestions or ideas? I have also noticed that my hair is better with more protein.. Thanks all for the great ideas and posts! nothereanymore
I've tried GeniSoy protein shakes. I know many that like the flavor (I'm just not a big fan of Soy and I love the dutch chocolate). But if you need something that doesn't contain dairy/wheat it may fit the bill. http://www.drugstore.com/qxp42116/genisoy/soy_protein_shake_vanilla.htm?fromsrch=Soy+Protein+Shake+%2D+22%2E2+oz Here's the ingrediants: Soy Protein Isolate, Fructose, Maltodextrin, Tricalcium Phosphate, Natural Flavors, Canola Oil, Magnesium Oxide, Potassium Chloride, Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C), Ferrous Fumarate (Iron), Vitamin E Acetate, Niacin (as Niacinamide), Zinc Oxide, Copper Gluconate, D Calcium Pantothenate, Pyridoxine, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Vitamin A Palminate, Folic Acid (Folate) Vitamin B12, D Biotin, Selenomethionine, Potassium Iodide, Cyanocobalamin
