BeeBlueHeron
I'm getting super-excited....and a little nervous. I have comfortable clothes, a small pillow to hug, passport, cashier's check, a therma-care shoulder heating pad, and a few bouillon cubes for the flight back that I can drop into hot water on the plane. Any other suggestions? Words of wisdom or support? :-)
missmudd
Gas-X and Pepcid My little devil after surgery was the heartburn. It hurt right at the breast bone and made me nauseous. Had to sleep propped up like I was in a recliner. They'll give you some Pepcid before you leave, but you might ask for it sooner. Also consider a belly band or other supportive underwear for after. I found myself walking and holding my stomach because every little jiggle was uncomfortable, and my tummy was swollen. Aside from all that, You'll do great! Are you going by yourself?
Bella1980
I took some G2 powder packets and LOVED having them for my bottled water. Gas X strips or pill form I don't know if it really helped as I just was taking it. Tea I didn't like the hotels I stayed at the Marriott and it was like orange spice, other herbal flavors that I didn't care for. I just wanted plain tea.
AnaA
Yes, definitely Gas X strips or Papaya enzyme (for gas). I would also make sure that you stock your home pantry for the liquids etc. that you are going to need when you get home. You may not feel like running around and shopping for things after you get back. Best of luck on your procedure! I look forward to following your great success.

I don't mean to mislead people or tell them certain products don't do anything. The gas that they pump into you to expand the organ cavity during surgery doesn't penetrate your organs. It will roam around your body and move into your joints causing some discomfort as it dissipates. Over the years, I've found that Gas-X really doesn't do much,, mostly it's a psychological thing. Walking and moving your joints really helps dissapate the trapped gas. As for the Papaya enzyme, some patients say if you get food stuck, you can take the enzyme to help digest the food. I haven't seen the proof and I'm still leary of this, but, I've never had success with it. Can anyone prove that this stuff works? Or is it just lap band wives tales? EricaG
Are you flying? I drive so I think it's a but different. Comfy shoes, socks, stretchy pants, and I bought some packet soups, I think they were Lipton and I took the noodles out, I think the flavor was better than the bullion cubes. Gatorade and ensure we're my buddies too.
PAMMIE
Get aftercare set up. I can't tell you how important that is. If your not within driving distance to the OCC, find someone local. Yes, the OCC is great for aftercare but you still need someone local in case of emergency
