Dolittle
Dr. Ortiz has restarted the Dental Clinic. All patients coming into the OCC will get a free exam and consultation. Check it out when you arrive. There's always something new going on here at the OCC.
Kindle
Is it safe to have dental work done at the same time as Bariatric surgery? ( i Realize its not happening during surgery, but even within a few days seems risky) I am in the veterinary field and we specifically do not do dental cleanings on our patients at the same time as other major surgeries because of the risk of infection from bacteria in the mouth being released into the bloodstream. Any dental patients have to be completely healed from previous procedures before proceeding.

Dolittle
Do you know if they do Dental Implants? You know, I don't know if they do or not. You can call the OCC clinic and ask. Last Oct I had a dental implant done at Dent-Art with Dr. Lugo. Then came back in Jan for the crown on the implant. Implants are a two part process. First trip is the implant, 3 months later you have to have it crowned. I was very satisfied with the implant done at Dent-Art, great price too. MovinSue
Is this service still available?
Dolittle
Dent-art center offers great dental care at an affordable price. I'll be there in July to finish up a implant. I've always had great care and quality workmanship. They have a website, www.dent-artcenter.com You can contact them thru their website, they have a live chat, her name is Norma, she's great. MovinSue
I would like to know more about the question of doing "invasive" ie bloody dental work during the same time period as a bariatric procedure. As a retired registered nurse, I would think that his might muddy the waters if an infection happens. It would be a great add-on service for patients but are there safeguards for bariatric patients? Is this perhaps why the dental clinic is not promoted? Is it an independent provider and unconnected with OCC? I was looking for a dentist during my post-op waiting time as I need a crown but was too unfamiliar with the language to feel comfortable with accessing a local provider. Could Dr Ortiz comment for all participants here? Or should I email him directly with my question/concern?
