Smoking Before Surgery

My cousin is thinking about getting sleeved, but she is a smoker, does anyone know how long you have to stop smoking before surgery?

I'm wondering if e-cigarette with liquid nicotine is acceptable. I have not had a cigarette in a month because of this device, my surgery is in 2 weeks time.
