kym828
Hi, i got a fill on the 19th of January and restriction has been perfect. a wierd thing started happening yesterday though. i have been trying to eat breakfast (bacon and eggs which is my normal breakfast) and yesterday and today i have Pb'd. i always wait until i have been awake for about 3 hours before i try to eat and i seem to be able to eat anything by the time the evening rolls around. is this normal for most of you with good restriction? i ate a bit of lunch yesterday after i had been up about 6 hours... maybe i will always have to wait till lunch to eat from now on?? its strange that for 2 wks i could eat at anytime and now i cant eat in the mornings.. i dont get it? Clynn
Such is the nature of the band. One personality one day, something else the next. Have you tried different foods for breakfast? Eggs is one of those foods that some people cannot tolerate. Also, it has been suggested that if we fall asleep with food in our stomach, that can cause the stomach to be irritated in the morning. I usually have a big glass of water before bedtime to flush everything out, though it does mean a bathroom trip around 2 am.
Kris_TX
Kim, I know that for me...I have really bad allergies and so I usually have lots of congestion that accumulates during the night. I can't eat hardly anything until about 1pm. So, usually in the morning, I have a protien drink or just coffee. I've tried to force it a few times and it always comes right back up...yuk! So, I just wait until I can feel the band being more open and eat then... I'm nearly a year out and this doesn't change for me. You just have to kind of go with whatever the band feels like! Good Luck! Kris
kym828
thanks for the response ladies.. i will try drinking water at night before i go to bed and i will also just have coffee for breakfast for now on. i actually ate the eggs and bacon for lunch today and it went down fine so i definitely think my band is just being a band. i love the restriction though and if it means i only eat two real meals a day so be it!! kim
Clynn
One other thought - I have a Glucerna meal bar for breakfast in the mornings when my band is tighter. It is soft and melty so it doesn't cause any problems and it has lots of protein and good stuff in it. Since it's designed for diabetics it helps control my blood sugar so I don't get the munchies later in the day.
Kristi Ann
i can't eat until at least midmorning no matter how hard i try! i eat around 5pm so i am hungry when i wake up. sometimes my stomach is growling so loudly in the morning that i swear i can almost make out the words "feed meeeeeeee!" in the grumbles. haha just yesterday, i took two bites of a breakfast burrito at 0800 and it was enough to have me runnin' for the bathroom at work 2 or 3 times. at about 1030 i ate the burrito and felt no discomfort whatsoever [and thankfully, felt "full" after eating it]. this darn band is just as picky as can be ...and it's working wonderfully! GregNE
My recent experience has no rhyme or reason. This morning I tried two scambled eggs, and about 75% of it came back up. I waited an hour, then had a whole english muffin with no problem. A hot tea before eating the muffin may have helped. I do not mind the PB'ing, however I certainly can't eat in public right now. The constant belching as I eat, and the frequent trips to the rest room would be too much to deal with in a restaurant. I am hoping that in a few days I will figure my band out, since my fill was only 2 days ago.
