gistmom
( I was banded May 25th, and can't find anyone on here who will reply! How are you doing? Four days into it, I was in so much pain, I was regretting everdoing this to myself...I'm eith days out now, and with pain killers, have the pain to where it is tolerable. I am very hungry, though, and I noticed that I can't consume as much.Christine :-? Oh Boy! Do I know how you feel?! All this pain, is it normal? I can't hardly even sit up without hurting. I've only been banded for 6 days. I drink soup (in the blender first) and weight watchers liquid yogurts, so i'm not really hungry. I just want to feel better! donnadd3
My husband and I are flying in on May16th he will be having surgery on the 17th of May - I had my surgery in October 2006 and he is going to take the plunge now- what is funny he see's me on here posting and telling my experience and calls me a goofball ......but he sure likes my results???? LOL who's a goofball now----you would just have to know my husband and I ----he is a jokster and I am the mellow one-----tee hee not so much anymore----went shopping yesterday and was wearing a 24-26 when I began this process and I put on a 18 pair of capris woo hoo ----see ya all soon =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> Hi folks. My band date is also the 17th of May. I'm 45 years old and finally taking charge. My mom and I are flying into San Diego Wednesday (the 16th) afternoon. You know, I just want to say that when I finally made the decision to do this after debating it on & off for 2 years, I was really excited. Felt empowered and all that. Then a few days after I booked the surgery I was walking down the aisle of my local grocer's and I think I could almost have cried. I was thinking "Wow, I'm not going to be able to eat everything I want to eat anymore." Then there's the part that is jumping up and down and saying "Wow, I'm got going to be able to eat everything I want to eat anymore." I have trouble with binge eating. I can eat and eat and eat. I joke that my stomach can stretch to the size of a beach ball. Not too funny, I know, but I'd rather laugh than cry. I don't like pain and discomfort so I hope just the possibility of slipping/erosion/ pbing and all the negative stuff that can happen will deter me from breaking the rules. I'm sure I'll test my limits at some point. Part of me is so excited to finally take control of my eating and then there's the part of me, I guess the part that wants to stay fat, that's kind of spooked. Anybody else have the feeling that there's somebody in your body that is afraid to change and not be "the fat one" any more? I'm so identified with that. Maybe I'm just schizo. I know with a head knowledge that it will feel WONDERFUL to not be heavy, but I wonder where the conflict is coming from. Anyone have a clue? Sorry, don't know anything about the aquarium. Never been that far south in California. I look foward to meeting you on the 20th. There are a couple others arriving that day also. cyndiwilson
Good for you. I guess that makes a lot of difference! I still haven't seen the post-op diet details, but I know that I'm pretty much going to be on clear liquids for 3-4 weeks after the surgery. I've just ordered Dr. Ortiz's book and also "Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies" which seems to be the most highly recommended. I guess I'll have a pretty good idea of the best diet following surgery.57 pounds in 4 months is pretty amazing. Congratulations! With results like that, what's not to love? Best, Sanjay Actually it is 6 monthes not 4 monthes but still amazing ---te he

I'm 13 days post op, and I can tell you YES, the pain does get much better, but it still is there (I can almost bend!). I"m not losing the weight like everyone else is, but I haven't started to exercise, since I am dealing w/bad allergies in the NE US. I started out weighing in at 172, and I haven't weighed myself since, but I can tell, it hasn't moved much. I'm 5'2" and my goal weight is to get back to my prepregnancy weight of 115. I have a lot to work towards, I"m a cardiac patient, and hoping losing this weight and bringing my meds down, and I have another event, my wedding! Let me know how you're doing! I am coming from Dallas/Fort Worth area. Hi there, The pre-op diet has been tough at times, but I am down 20lbs since starting it. I am supposed to come as close as possible to 36lbs, but c'mon, that isn't going to happen. My body isn't giving up the fat without a fight...lol It will be close though because I will be stricter with myself next week and then having to stop smoking as well now, ugh! not a good combination. What airline are you taking? We(my mom and me), are coming in on Alaska. I am so excited! I wish it were this weekend instead of next. Oh well, it will be worth the wait soon. Take care and hope to see you at the airport. Judy
luv2dive
I am on American, If I read right you are 6'1" so I think I will be able to spot you. I have alot to lose as well, my pre-op start was 311.1. I have a freind who is doing the liquid with me. I hink that has made a huge difference, I don't feel so alone. The smoking thing is important...I was a closet smoker for years, then I had to have an emergency surgery...and yes my lungs collapsed (I was 22) so really try to do breathing exercises to build up those lungs. I have also kept going to this website to read and this is also helping me. I am looking forward to meeting you as well. PS That will happen you can do this!! You have already done 20 what is 16 more? If I were you I would go get a patch to help with the cravings. I admire all that you are doing. I can't imagine quiting smoking too. For the both of you -- if you are feeling gas pains - WALK. It works. Guaranteed. I had NO pain at any time. I had the gas discomfort - directly in the center of my chest, which can be a little disconcerting - but walking helps. Walk as much as you possibly can. It works - I know. Good luck ! QueenOfChunk
Good Luck May 14th Bandsters! You should be on the road to recovery by now!! I was banded on Friday! I am still surprised at how smoothly everything went. It is a breeze. THe only thing is the gas pain which everyone on here has already mentioned. As long as long as you're moving that gas around in your body, you're ok... but get it settled in there and it is painful! I haven't had luck with Gas-X but the Mylanta Gas chewables were my friend on my flight from the west to east coast. (6 hours) Anyway, just wanted to let you know, I feel great. I'm at work already. And I would recommend Dr. Ortiz to anyone. It was a real pleasure. I'm anxious for what the future holds. Thanks for your thoughts and prayers on Friday.
