Making Calls back home.....

:-? How did you call family and friends to let them know you were all right after your surgery? I plan to take my cell phone with but, will I need an international calling card? I hope I won't have a problem call my husband or my parent's back in the States. What did you do?

Kelly,

Once your in your private room you can make free calls. I did not know this and spent $10.00 at the hotel. Also you can use your cell phone. Our NEXTEL phones did NOT work but other cell services did.

I bought a phone card but never used it. my cell worked fine (verizon) but it was a little expensive. The dr's office let us make and recieve calls anytime for free. Good luck

Thank you so much for the info. I have Cingular (AT&T). It's coast to coast. I was hoping it wouldn't be a problem. I have to work tonight and Monday night. I have been working so much overtime, that I haven't really thought about much. I'll have all day Tues. to think about it and pack. I fly out very early Wed. (7 am.) from Tampa. I'm going by myself! I'll be ok. Thank you again for the info.

All of my calls showed up on my bill as being out of Chula Vista -- so if you have coast-to-coast service, you should be OK.

I HAVE CINGULAR ALSO, IT KEPT SWITCHING FROM A MX CELL CONNECTION TO CINGULAR. I JUST KEPT ON IT IF I WAS DIALING. IF ANYONE CALLED, I JUST CALLED THEM BACK JUST TO MAKE SURE I WAS ON CINGULAR. IF THAT MAKES SENSE

I loved the fact the you are able the make free calls anywhere from you hospital room after surgery. What a great service and I used it a few times.
