Difficulty Swallowing - Can I have lapband?

Recommended Posts

I currently have a difficult time swallowing certain things. This has just happened in the last year. I have several medications that I take and I used to be able to take a handfull all at once. Now, I can only take a couple at a time. Also, when I eat, I have to have a swallow of water to get it down and sometimes it stays in my throat for a long time. Am I a candidate for lapband. After ready all the messages about swallowing and "golf" ball syndrome, I'm rethinking my decision. Help

I think I would talk to the doctor about why you are having trouble swallowing and let the doctor say if you are a good candidate. I'm sure the doctor does not want to do surgery if you are having problems already. Besides alot of the doctors idea is keeping their statistics positive and their patients not having problems.

Thanks for the response. I should have discussed this with the doc on my consultation since it was $400, but I really didn't think of it. I'll bring it up when they call me for surgery approval. Maybe an upper GI will show something.
