I was wondering if anyone knew if it is OK to fly long distance after the band is put in after surgery.. LONG FLIGHT.. like over 5 hours. ANy comments on it. ANyone know what the DR has said about this. Thanks.

Hi samia,

I have read and seen alot of people that have flown a long ways after surgery, like Florida, Tennessee, etc. Unless you have those naggy gas pains, it isn't a problem, just may be uncomfortable. So, pack up those gas-x strips and whatever else you can to keep you comfortable. Those other people said they had no problems at all with the flights other than them being long. ;)

Hope this helps,

Judy

In addition to the GasX strips, pack some Imodium :)

I had surgery on Monday and flew home Weds - SD to DC (5 hours). I was fine.

I didnt need anything - altho I had a 2 hour layover at LAX and walked the entire time - that

may have had something to do with it.
