newgirl
Hi Everyone, I'm in what I would describe as the final stages of scheduling a surgery at OCC. I'm 99% there. I'm also doing this in total secrecy except for telling my sister and a friend in case of emergency. As far as anyone knows I'll be on vacation. Any advice? What do you wish you would have known prior to surgery? What should I do to make my experience easier? And what the heck does PB mean? I read your posts with great interest and congratulate you all on just trying. I was watching "America's Got Talent" (hate to admit that) and there was an 80 yr old woman who got up on stage and sang. She was so great and gutsy. At the end she said, "You never know what tomorrow will bring so why not try?" Yep, that made me cry. Any advice is appreciated, Incognito and hopefully new girl soon! PB MEANS PRODUCTIVE BURP, ALONG THE LINES OF THROWING UP BUT IT'S REALLY NOT THROWING UP. FOOD NEVER MAKES IT FAR ENOUGH DOWN TO BE CALLED THROWING UP. SOMEONE ELSE MIGHT EXPLAIN IT BETTER FOR YOU IT'S HARD TO FINALLY TAKE THAT LAST STEP, CALLING AND CONFIRMING A DATE BUT IT'S ONE OF THE BEST THINGS I'VE EVER DONE GOING TO THE OCC WAS ANOTHER. Brianne79
I don't really have any advice. I was banded June 2nd. So far it hasn't been too bad... . I'm just anxious for my first fill because I am hungry all the time right now. I also didn't tell many people. The only people who know are my parents, sister and husband. I have my reasons for not wanting people to know and I'm sure you have yours. Congrats on taking the plunge... I'm so excited for this journey. I can't wait to buy new (smaller!!) clothes!! I did mine in secret too...only my husband knows. Are you going to TJ by yourself? I did and it went just fine. The other people being banded kinda took me under their wing and gave me support. You know who you are! Twigs
LisaVA
Hi ! Check out the newbie section -- you should be able to read enough so that your entire experience should seem familiar to you -- it was that way with me -- by reading these boards I knew what to expect -- I posted a very detailed account on the newbie page - I'll be 3 months out on Monday and I feel great ! My weight loss is slower than I'd like and after my first fill I've PB'd (I'm sorry Pammie, its throwing up) more times than I ever thought I would - thats been very difficult for me for some reason, but I'm getting there! I only told one person - and still he's the only one who knows I've done this. My choice - the older I get the less I feel the need to confess everything. Thats a very personal decision. I don't regret this for one minute ! The real benefit for me is yet to be realized. I can lose weight - I'm really really good at it -- what I'm not good at is keeping it off - and thats the prime benefit I feel this band will give me. Either way, you have a host of friends here who will help you any way we can. Best of luck to you !!! lisa
