LisaHollywood
Hello everyone, new to the forum. I've been battling my weight my entire life. I'm going tomorrow night for the information seminar on the Lap Band surgery and plan on following the steps to eventually have the surgery. The gastric-bypass was basically not an option. We've known too many people to die from it (we've also known success stories too)....but the hubby (and the simple fact that we have a 7 month old) has guided me in the direction of the Lap Band. I've been reading all the posts....and just wanted to ask for any helpful suggestions. You know how life throws us all curve balls at times...and we think "if I could go back and do it all over again......" I'd love any helpful hints, suggestions, etc. Thanks in advance! JennaR
If I could go back and do it all over again..... I would have done it sooner. If you have already decided on the band and you are firm and informed about the decision, then my suggestion is..... hold on and ride the wave!! Weeeeeeeee! My only thing that I couldn't live without is my heating pad. Go ahead and spend some money for a plush comfy one too.
debyo
Lisa, I have only been banded for 3 and 1/2 months, but I just wish they had had this 20 years ago. I have never once wished that I had not done it. I have lost 45 pounds since August 8th and feel so much better. I researched long and hard, and knew that I would not do the by-pass for many of the reasons you mentioned. I am continually amazed at how well the band works. I had a few days of hurting some, but the meds did their job. Best of luck to you in your search and overcoming your battle. Deby
