Singer Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 Does anyone know if the band is stitched once it is placed? Of course watching TV - seeing Lapband procedure and MD's stitch in place.... is that done at OCC?

Yes, it is my understanding that Dr. Ortiz stitches it in place ... supposed to lessen the chances of slippage. I'd ask them directly though, just to be sure. Twigs
LoriBecky Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 yes... there are stitches that hold the band in place... the doctor stitches part of the stomach below the band and part of the stomach above the band... making a "belt loop" for the band to help hold it in place.
