Figstr
Hi all. I'm new to this forum and have some questions. I haven't been to the nutrition class yet, but am scheduled for next week. I've been reading a bit of the forum but my concerns haven't been mentioned by other members. One of my main concerns is dehydration. I live in South TX and spend a lot of time outside. My wife and I camp, ride a motorcycle, and enjoy working in the yard. I drink a lot of water and Gatoraid to keep myself hydrated when engaged in outdoor activities. When on the motorcycle, especially going long distance, I stop every 100 miles or so and drink a bottle of water or Gatoraid when I gas up. I usually spend about 10 minutes resting and drinking between stops. If I don't drink a lot of fluids, I'm dehydrated by the end of the day. How will the lap band affect my ability to drink a lot of fluids? I understand during the first few weeks I'll be limited to liquids and then protein shakes and such every hour or so. As a high school teacher, how can I best handle that. I do have a small fridge in my classroom that I use for water I drink throughout the day. What kind of protein shakes/drinks are good to use? After my surgery I'll have about 10 days before I go back to work for the new school year. What can i expect to be eating/drinking at that point in time?
