la guera
Hey Ya'll...This forum has been awesome, I just wanna say. (After I finally figured out how to use it LOL ) Only 11 days until my surgery. I started my preop diet today and I don't mind tellin ya'll that I feel like I am going to starve to death...Plus I had to completely give up smoking, which surprisingly isn't bothering me as much as I thought it would. I still haven't heard if anyone out there will be going to TJ on the 2nd and 3rd of August.. the thought of going by myself is a little more daunting than I had thought it would be. I am so scared that this tool won't work for me. I have yo-yo'd for, well, seems like most of my life. I can get it off, but keeping it off is another matter. I don't know...I guess everybody has probably had the same doubts. July 23, 2007 Pre-op diet 238.5 lbs.

I think you have the same fear we all have which is keeping it off which I think the band will help us with....greatly. Have you ever been to Tijuana? Don't worry...you'll be fine. I've heard of tons of patients going solo...they treat you good at OCC it seems, like royalty, lol. No seriously though I have heard nothing but good things have visited OCC twice and well it's very nice, clean, and super friendly. Trust-trust!!!! No seriously though I have heard nothing but good things have visited OCC twice and well it's very nice, clean, and super friendly. Trust-trust!!!! Actually, it's not goin to TJ that bothers me really. I speak Spanish fluently (no, I'm not hispanic...long story) La Guera was a nickname given to me by my son's family. But anywho...I'm not scared to go to TJ, I'm just nervous about the surgery in general. And I wouldn't be any less nervous if I was having it done in the States. And acutally, I am very accustomed to doing most things by myself (single mom of two boys, Alex age 9 and Mateo age 6) so I was a little surprised to realize that I am anxious about going to have surgery done (thousands of miles away from my small town in TN) My next biggest fear is that this tool won't work for me. I've been up and down for years. And I've seen it work for a friend of mine (she went from 215 to 135 and she's barely 5 foot) and her cousin (now friend of mine) who went to TJ and Dr. Ortiz who in turn recommended the OCC to me. But even though we've talked extensively about the struggle of losing and keeping it off, I wondered if people have struggled like I have. I wouldn't say that I eat just massive amounts of food, but I do like to eat. I'm on the go alot ( I do home health). I try to drink lots of water and only 2 diet sodas a day (a habit I developed when I went to LA Weight Loss) I also walk about 2.5-3 miles 3 to 5 days a week. Which I guess is why I feel hungry and eat. I managed to lose about 50 lbs about 5 years ago on that program but slowly (and steadily) have gained most of it back. If I "diet" I can lose about 10 lbs then I just freeze. But I can't honestly say that I follow it completely. Then it comes back...and round and round we go...So, if this tool will work for me...if I can really eat 3 small meals a day and feel satisfied then I should be able to lose...right?
