Cb30
Hey I am 30yrs old and have struggled with my weight for years. I have 3 children and it seems like everytime I lost and weight I would become pregnant again. Not that, thats a bad thing but...... So I had a couple of friends that have had this surgery and well here I am. I am still very sore I just had my first fill yesterday and I weighed and I had lost 10lbs since my surgery. Is that normal??? I'm really not sure what exactly to eat and what not to eat. can anybody help?? I hope to get to know everyone and most of all feel like I'm not going through this alone. julestpafl
Congratulations on your decision to be banded. I had my surgery on 6/28/05. I lost about 12 pounds before my first fill on 8/28 and have lost about 36 pounds since. More importantly for me I've gone from a size 24 to a size 16. As long as you are losing pounds or sizes you will be doing fine. I've found that working out helps the most. The weight loss may be slower because of the muscle you are gaining but it's worth it. If you didn't buy Dr. Ortiz' book, I highly recommend it. It will help you in knowing what to expect and how to recognize problems should they arise. I'm going for my 2nd fill in a couple of weeks. Good luck to you!
QueenBee
First of all, YOU ARE NOT ALONE! There are of ton of us "bandsters" on this forum and many others. I have found the answer to just about all of my questions here and on lapbandtalk.com I am 27 and gained some weight after getting married 6 years ago and REALLY put it on during and after pregnancy, so I feel your pain! I was banded a little > 4 mos ago and I have lost a total of almost 40 lbs. Remember & do not forget this: everyone loses at a different pace. It depends on your starting weight, what you eat (of course) the amount of restriction you have and exercise (yes I said it.) For the last 6 weeks I have been going to the gym constantly and have lost another size in pants - only about 8 lbs lost, but I'm starting to see some muscles I haven't see in years! And alot more energy even though I've been battling a sinus infection. So here's what I have for you: 1. You're not alone 2. You're doing great, keep it up 3. What to eat?- eat as healthy as you possibly can. The band restricts quantity you regulate quality 4. Exercise as much and as often as you can - even if it's doing sit ups and going on walks at home. Be as active as you can be @ least 30 mins a day. Best of luck!!!
