HOLIDAYS VS LAP BAND

Recommended Posts

Hi to everyone!

I am new to this site. I have been going to the pre qualifications for my insurance for the past 7 months. ughhh, I am now concerned about getting approved, and having the surg right before all the Nov Dec holidays start. I have heard about the emotional issues that come after the surg. Am I crazy to have the surg in Nov?? Am I sitting myself up? Should I wait untill after Dec? I just don't want to fall into a depression. The holidays can be a very sensitive time. I will not be able to take off more than 8-10 days for the surg. :-? On the other hand, Is it the best present I could give to myself? Those of you that have had it done, please inlighten me with how you felt emotionally

Thanks so much. This is a great site. =D>

It is better to just do it than wait. I had my surgery at the end of October of last year. The holidays were just fine for me. I was the only person I knew who LOST weight during the holidays! I could have *A* cookie at a party, or just ONE piece of fudge and was perfectly fine with it. I did not feel "cheated" at all!

Good luck!

Try to time it so that you won't be on the liquid post-op diet for the holidays. Watching friends and family have fun and eat and eat and eat while you can only have liquids makes a difficult phase more so. Other than that, go for it. Unless you have some other issues which you have not elaborated on here, you'll do just fine.

THANKS!! For the suggestions. I'm getting so nervous. I am going to keep pushing my insurance for Last week of OCT.

If they keep denying me, I may go to TJ (thats even scarey!!) but from what I've read, seems ok.

I am going to post another topic. PLEASE help me ! Thanks again, Brenny :)

Hello its my first time here too. I live in the UK and find it so hard to find any real support from these kind of forums in the UK as lap banding isnt really that well known and so expensive most people go to Belguim. I am booked in to have my band fitted on the 15th november 07, I wanted it done sooner but had already booked a shopping trip to New York with my sister so didnt think it would be a good idea to travel so soon after surgery ( I fly out on the 8th nov and come home on th 13th nov) so decided to have it done straight after returning, my husband wanted me to wait until after the Christmas holidays but after thinking long and hard about it I decided I have had at least 24 christmas's of feeling fat and ugly, not wanting to go to partys because of the drunken comments that some people make about over weight people, not being able to were nice clothes and so on, so this year yes I will miss out on all the food and drink that goes with the season but its nothing that I haven't done on countless failed diets before, only this time I know it'll be working and I'll have next year to look forward to being that much slimmer and healthier so I think you should just go for it. good luck
