kimmizing
WOW!! SOOOOO HAPPY!! MY INSURANCE JUST REIMBURSED ME $5500 OF THE $8500 I SPENT ON MY LAP BAND SURGERY!!! YAY!!! Was not expecting that, so VERY pleased!! And VERY happy with Dr Ortiz's staff for helping out with the paperwork!! > I'm getting so many compliments about how fresh-faced and happy I look lately!! Must be from eating healthier!! The first few weeks after surgery I was having horrendous headaches, but I think it was my body reacting to the caca and toxins leaving my bod and from cutting out the bad stuff. Anyhew, my weightloss has plateaued at 208. So I'm going to schedule my first fill for sometime in October. The EMPTY band still works tho!! I've PB'd and slimed a couple of times when I wasn't staying aware of chewing a million times before swallowing!! #-o It's been 7 weeks since surgery. Amazingly, certain (BAD) food cravings have completely gone away!! =D> I don't know if that's common or not after Lap Band, but I'm sure happy about it! OH OH OH!!! And I'm ~officially~ considered "over-weight" now (BMI 29.8), instead of the dreaded "OBESE"!!! [dumb me, couldn't leave well enough alone and had to figure out how much I need to weigh to be in the "normal" range.... 173.5 lbs. That'd give me a BMI of 24.9. Uh. Yeah. That's like 35 pounds from now!!!!!! Seems so far away!! dumb me!!] Well, need to get ready to go with the family to the fair!! I'm going to wear my *new* LUCKY BRAND JEANS!!!!! Size 32!! I look HOTT!!!!! Woo-hoo! Visit My OH Journal for My Story!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Starting weight: 7/01/2007; 235 lbs 33.7 BMI Surgery weight: 8/13/2007; 224 lbs 32.1 BMI Current weight: 9/30/2007; 208 lbs 29.8 BMI Goal weight: May/1/2008; 159 lbs 22.8 BMI No fills yet... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Kari
Hi Kim'Could you explain how OCC helped with the paperwork. My Insurance denied me but I want to try anyway. Maybe they will cover something. Cant' hurt to try. Thanks, Sue I just e-mailed Rene, giving him my name and date of banding and asked him for records so I could submit them to my insurance. He e-mailed me back with just a couple days and he sent all the records that were in my files. It took about three weeks. I think he has been getting a lot of requests for records because he told me he was accepting bribes. Kari banded 7-16-07 Dr. Ortiz 40 lbs lost so far. Hi Kari, Congrats on your success with being reimbursed from your insurance and your weight loss! That is so awesome! If you read my posts Insurance...Thank OCC!, I have a feeling I might not be getting or asking for the right forms/papers from Rene for my insurance. They want dates and amounts for each service and when I sent the first papers, they showed all services were on the same date and how much each one cost. I read that there is another report that is more detailed and probably in spanish and that is the one I asked for from Rene and he said when he came back from vacation, they were sent last monday. I have not received anything yet and was sure he was going to mail them to me. I am or he is confused about whether or not they were mailed or emailed. Maybe read my last post from that message and see where I might have asked for the wrong report or what? Thanks and way to go again on your success! Peace, Judy

I'm arranging my first fill through him, so I'm going to shut my mouth!! LOL

Dolittle
Bribes!! Are you serious!!????????? OMG!!!!!!! LOL!!! My husband dealt mostly with the sweet gal at the front desk (I forget her name).... My husband is from Spain and is a serious take no BS banker, and if some jerk asked for a bribe to help expedite insurance, my DH would have ripped his b*lls off!! I wonder if Dr. Ortiz knows about this. Maybe he's a realative and thats why Ortiz keeps him. Who knows. Of all the people at OCC , Rene was the one I had the LEAST chemistry with. Come on guys,, did you think he might have been making an attempt to be funny. A little office humor??
dreamhappy07
Come on guys,, did you think he might have been making an attempt to be funny. A little office humor?? I agree. He is very nice in his emails to me and very professional. I am sure he was kidding around. He is a very busy guy too. He tries very hard to help everyone that needs certain papers and forms. The last time I wrote him, he was on vacation and I wrote him again and told him I hoped he had a great vacation and when he wrote back, he said thank you, it was great! He must have really needed it. Peace, Judy
kimmizing
Probably was "office humor", but perhaps a tad on the crass side... I didn't realize any of those guys ever took vacations!! I was under the impression they worked 24/7/365!! LOL... But still, for me, everyone at the OCC was so friendly! Gee... I need to start planning my first fill, eh?!! #-o LOL ciao >
FurEllie
I'm sure he was making a joke He seems like a very friendly person to me and certainly not above being funny I finally got around to sending him an email today and he was VERY polite and said he'd get it on its way. YAY! If I can get the band to go towards my deductible, this might mean I don't have to fork out big bucks for my hysterectomy, lol. Thanks again for all of you who told us about this and of course, thanks to OCC!!

Thanks again for all of you who told us about this and of course, thanks to OCC!! I never would have mentioned the word bribe if I thought anyone would think it was serious. Of course he was joking. He probably has gotten a ton of requests for records since insurance companies have reimbursed some people here. IT WAS A JOKE, FOLKS.
