thisisntobvious
I'm a 17 year old girl and I got my surgery a few weeks ago. None of my friends know and its so hard keeping this a secret! I wish I could just tell them but I don't want the entire universe finding out, and in highschool, secrets get out. So far I've lost a good amount of weight, but now its not budging which is kind of annoying. I've been on diets since i was very young, like eight years old and because I'm so young my parents are constantly involved, it especially makes sense now cause they payed for the surgery. (Insurance wouldnt even consider me! :/) They're concerned that my weight is stuck, and we're thinking that it's because I just switched to solids. I have my first adjustment this thursday. Im so nervous! I was wondering if after I get this adjustment that i'll begin losing weight again? And/or whats the reason for my weight not budging? Hello and congratulations to you on having the blessing of being able to be banded. I think you will do just fine if you want to lose the wieght more then you love the food. It is still a choice on becoming filled so that you are able to lose steadily, and staying filled to the right amount so you do not over eat. I have been having a problem with my son, who is 16 wanted to eat like crazy and not wanting to be filled properly in order to lose weight. It is sad to me, and I am disapointed in him not the band. You are a little older (he was banded at 15) and still a little immature for the procedure in my eyes. Good luck to you, and your new outlook on a better life all around. I felt dumb cause i cried before and the nurse and my mom were like holding my hands haahha but the docter put a numbing shot in it and i felt nothing when he was filling it. He's not afraid or nervous about the needle. The problem is that he loves food so much more right now than wanting to get enough fill to slow down his eating. Thats the problem. You'll do just fine, as long as you have fills. Again, good luck and happy losing. Teri

Hello Girls, I am a mother of two young children. I am waiting on my approval from my insurance. I understand about not telling people about the procedure. I have not told any of my co-workers. Believe it or not, some adults can't keep things to themselves. They can also be negative about self improvement. Or personal improvement period. I was over weight during my teen years as well. I wish they had something like this earlier, or I just did not know about it. Good luck on your journey. Much success to you both. Shaun
