Dontondan
I am really excited to begin my journey and change my life. I have scheduled for December 6 and am traveling from Bremerton, WA. I am a little nervous about the pre-op diet as I will be on a cruise over Thanksgiving holiday--any suggestions??? Also would love to have some pals to communicate with and compare our experiences. I remember the days before I was banded and did a cruise. Holy crap, I remember putting on 10 to 15 lbs on one cruise. I feel for you... I have no suggestions that you already don't know. RogerF
Just enjoy the cruise and have fun, enjoy lots of different things just in smaller amounts, then hit it hard when you get back. Banding is all about being reasonable and healthy. I'm just around the corner in Port Orchard, and there is a band support group on the third Wed of the month over here. Good luck and congratulations on starting your journey. Roger

I went and ordered my stuff for the pre-diet and have to go today to fax all my info back to them. I have a big treat in November though to look forward to so that should make time go faster for me. I have been on cruises before, but get overwhelmed by all the food and get sick of it (thankfully). I usually don't gain when I go on one because of all the activities to do. I have a week in between to really hit it hard and plan on doing just that! Thanks.... Donna

Dear Donton, I can't help you with the idea of what to do on the vacation, but I am going to get my band Nov. 16th. I am starting my pre diet this weekend using protien drinks and Lean Q. meals. I will let you know how I do after the first week. I am in Monroe. I am also hoping to find a support group. I know there is one in Everett. Anyway, I wish you luck. Donna Donna, My daughter tells me the Port Orchard support group usually meets the third Wednesday of the month at a caterer's place next to the Comfort Inn downtown. She couldn't remember the name of the caterer, but she did say the November meeting was scheduled for the 14th due to Thanksgiving. Looking at the Yellow Pages, I think it is at Le Garmache, 1327 Bay Street.

Dontondan
Hey everybody,I am new to this website. I am thinking to have lap band, but I am really in doubt. My BMI is less than 35. Pleeeeeease let me know your experience (good and bad). Thanks Maryam Maryam, I have had my band for 11 days now and I can tell you that nothing feels better than not being hungry 24 hours a day. For the first time in my life I am experiencing fullness and satisfaction after eating. It is a wonderful feeling! I am still on my liquid diet until the 27th of December, but I am so full of energy and the weight is just dropping off of me and I feel better than I have in many years. The best thing is that everyone is noticing now! Is this worth it? Incredibly so! It was my first medical experience that has been positive in my life and believe me I am a huge BABY! Dr. Ortiz and staff treated me so well and their expertise made the surgery a breeze. I know of several others who have had similar experiences and have not run across anyone who has anything negative to say yet. As long as you are willing to make the commitment to make some changes in your lifestyle and follow the rules it is a wonderful tool that I wish I would have taken advantage of years earlier.
