dixichik
Hey everyone - I'm new to this board - just found it today via google. My lapband surgery is scheduled for this coming up Tuesday, Oct 23. I'm so pumped up for this..... I'm looking for anyone to give me advice about what to expect mentally, physically, etc. I know that everyone has different experiences, so please tell me what all happened to you! I'm so thankful this option is out there - I'm so excited to know that I will never be a Stage II diabetic, and will never have to have knee replacements - I'm just psyched up about this whole experience! I start full liquids tomorrow - so any tips for pre-surgery liquids, I would love to hear those, too. Thank you all SO MUCH!!! Jennifer
Sassy
Hey Dixichic, I'm not going to be much help to you, as my banding is scheduled after yours, on the 26th to be exact. I wanted to let you know tho, if you just read all the blogs on this site, most all your questions will be answered in one way or another. It inspires me to hear your enthusiasm. I'm excited about the idea of loosing weight and feeling better, but I'm very apprehensive about the whole thing as well. I wish you luck and great success. passionatelhopeful
Hey Jennifer! My surgery is the SAME DAY as YOURS! I too, am so excited!! It sounds like we will be able to meet each other there! I am a pretty busy teacher and mom (not usually great at staying in contact with my adult friends), but I would love to be "band buddies!" The previous post is absolutely right! I feel that I have gotten all of my questions answered by previous posts on this board. It has been a big help! I'm not sure if I'm doing it "right," but I bought a case of Costco brand Slimfast for the week. I've been drinking a couple of those a day and then lots of water, juice, Crystal Light and an occasional cup of tomato soup. The first day was a little tough, but it's SO worth it! It's helped me realize too, that just because I have a lapband, what goes on inside my head won't change. I'm trying to listen to my body and not my old habits and mind. I must say that I was a little worried about being able to lose the 5% in the three weeks that I had after I scheduled my surgery, but the weight has been droping off already and I'm going to make it. My only real difficulty is my mom. She is slightly freaking out: "Going to TJ for surgery!" I wish I wouldn't have had to tell her, but I needed her to pick my kids up from school for a couple of days. I have tried to ease her fears, given her the website, etc. She is a worrier, and has approached this like she does anything in life: with a negative attitude. Unfortunately, it forces me to distance myself from her - too much negative energy in this world! So..... I feel so blessed to have been able to pull the money together to have this done! I am all about giving it my all to make it a success! I am arriving in San Diego Monday early afternoon from Washington state. Hope to see you there! -Laura

I just wanted to say good luck, you're probably doing the surgery right now. When you are able to, I would love to hear how it went.
