band2008
Hey I was just recently banded (no fills yet) but everyone keeps talking about how most people usually gain from the time they have the surgery and until their first fill. Does anyone know why or if that is true? I want to avoid that at all cost..

Holly
Hey I was just recently banded (no fills yet) but everyone keeps talking about how most people usually gain from the time they have the surgery and until their first fill. Does anyone know why or if that is true? I want to avoid that at all cost.. I was just banded on Feb. 8th...and I have only lost like 1 1/2 pounds. I thought I would have lost more...being on liquids! I did lose 51 pounds before surgery...but still. Grrrr! :-?
Clynn
Ok, once again, your focus post surgery should be healing. You have no saline in your bands so they won't be working for you one bit. Being on liquids is like going on a crash diet and your body has gone into starvation mode and is holding on to every calorie it can. Getting upset with yourself at this point is unreasonable. Just worry about getting better. Once you get your first fill then the work will begin.

I totally get what you are saying...I am sure you know how it is though...you are just so excited to see change! I am not "upset" with myself...just anxious. Kari
What you are referring to is called Bandland Hell. Usually wihile in the liquid and mushy stage, you are healing and are not very hungry. What you have to remember is that the band is a tool. It is not a magic bullet that is going to melt the pounds off. I am six and a half months out and have lost around 70 lbs and I just started feeling restriction my last fill. Still not there though. IF YOU REMEMBER THAT THE BAND IS A TOOL TO HELP YOU LOSE WEIGHT, YOU WILL. IF YOU EXPECT THE BAND TO DO ALL THE WORK FOR YOU, YOU WILL GAIN.
