kissyfur
I was just wondering how much alcohol you can bring back from Mexico after surgery? I have a few friends that have made request. Then what kind of Meds can you get without a script from Dr.? Do they offer phentermine without a script, does anyone know? Of coarse I guess I have to worry about what all I can take on the plane, which haven't found that yet, I am using American Airlines, any suggestions? How many bags can I take? Sorry all the questions, go for my surgery the 28th. Thanks in advance.

I don't know what the pharmacies in Mexico can sell you without a script. Its one of those things that when you get there you can walk into any large pharmacy and see what they have on the shelf. They'll have the prices in peso's and US dollars. If your having surgery you won't need much as far as clothes go,, pack light. You can also go down to Revolution Ave and shop for all that tourist stuff. I don't know what American Airlines luggage restrictions are,, you'll have to check their website. snowbird
I'm no expert, but the question isn't what drugs you can buy in mexican pharmacies; it is what is legal to bring into the US without a prescription. I believe that if a drug requires a prescription in the US, you must have a prescription for it to legally bring it into the US. Unless, of course, you aren't planning on truthfully answering the customs officer's questions regarding what you bought in Mexico!

They will xray your luggage and bags and can see them.
FurEllie
Unless, of course, you aren't planning on truthfully answering the customs officer's questions regarding what you bought in Mexico! Are they asking questions? Heck, I got back one time w/o them even looking at my ID. Someone posted a while back that Toradol can be bought w/o a prescription and there's a pretty liberal amount about how many you can bring back. Try a search on it. As far as drugs that need prescriptions, they are cheaper, not easier to get, in Mexico. IOW, you will still need a prescription for your friends unless you see it on the shelf. That goes for things like Viagra too

That goes for things like Viagra too Sometimes I have been asked what I am bringing back across the border, and sometimes not. I have a brother in law who is a retired Customs agent, so I was giving the party line on what is allowed. I sure wouldn't want them to discover it in my purse if I didn't tell them about it. You do hear about celebrities who are arrested when entering the US with medications for which they have no prescription.
kissyfur
Thanks you guys for all the useful information, I am guessing I may not get anything, I sure don't want to take any risk of getting in any trouble. I still need to go to the airline website to see what I can even take on the plane with me as far as bags. Thanks again
Stacy
When we crossed the border a week ago we were asked if we had and alcohol or drug parifinalia(spelled wrong) The next guy didnt ask a thing to the people crossing other than what brought you to mexico. The pharmacies in mexico are wild one on every corner.. We were not asked about prescription drugs at all.
EnchantedPiano70
I want to know if the prices are cheap in Mexico compared to those here in the USA. I want to bring back a bottle of Patron Tequila - The good stuff. To put in my home bar not for me! I know they go for a hundred dollars and up here. Also will we have to exchange dollars for pesos in order to buy things in Tijuana? **What is the one thing that I should buy and bring back home with me? I would like to know what others didn't get that they wished the had.

One is on the way in,, if your walking,, and the other is right next to the line of cars, at the border, on the way out of Mexico. If the line is long on your way back,, maybe you can talk Francisco to let you out of the van and jump into the store,,, but you better be quick. LOL. I think there are other stores, but you'll need to ask someone at the OCC where there located. If you look you'll find it in TJ.

So if you are ever given change in pesos(unlikely), then you might want to just lose it because of the low value compared to the US dollar. Hope I made some sense here. Anyway, just use US dollars everywhere because it is accepted everywhere there. I don't know what one thing you should bring home except for little souvenirs. I managed to get some cheap mini-sombreros and pottery things, but that's about it. lol I guess thinking about it, I would have liked to get that tequila for a friend at work, but not for myself. Take care. Judy
