Dolittle
There are several lap-band manufactures,, Inamed and the Johnson and Johnson Relize band are some of them. If you go to the Relize website there's a nice video that shows how the band is placed inside of you and what the band does. Check it out,, its very educational. http://www.realizeband.com/dtcf/pages/how-realize-works.htm Also here is the Inamed video. http://www.lapband.com/lapband/html/lapband524.html
mona-camille
Do you know whether Dr. Ortiz uses a few stitches to attach the lap band to the stomach to help prevent slippage? The doctors here do that and it seem to help tremendously and lessen the possibility of slippage occuring.

When I had my surgery Dr. Ortiz was using the Pars Flaccida technique and also stitched the band to your stomach to help avoid slippage.

magpel
I thought I read somewhere that you were NOT supposed to stitch the band onto the stomach. I'll have to find where I read that. I wonder if that's something new, and Dr's or no longer stitching or what. It's very good information to have, and to ask.

Well, my sister was just banded 1/4/08 here in sthe states and she was stitched. I hope they do stitch. I would feel a lot better.
