Size of bands

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I been noticing that people are discussing two different size bands. I didn't know OCC offered us that; and if they do, how can we find out what size we received and why the difference? I will call OCC if nobody knows, but I thought maybe someone may have found out already.

 Helen ><'

I believe it depends on the size of the person banded. Four of us were banded on March 28th and the three girls got the 4cc band and the guy with us got the 10cc VG Band. They will tell you after surgery and give you a card to carry in your wallet with the size of your band. Hope this helps!

Here is a visual image of what the difference in a 10cc VG Band and the 4cc Standard band:

How I understand it is that depending on how much fat you have around the stomach determines what size band the doctor puts in place.

You can see why some with the VG band need more fills, since most doctors won't put more than 2ccs in at a time you would need 2 or 3 fills to get the same level as a 4cc band.

I have the VG band and Dr Ortiz told me in the evening that I had a hiatal hernia and he needed to put that one on me. I guess it also depends on the degree of fat around you stomach and how much overweight you are. My BMI was quite high. They make that decision during surgery.

I just looked at mine again, and it says 10cm. So I really have the 4cc? God, I hope so! I want to drop all this weight by my birthday (7/19).

Yes you have the 4cc BeBe so no worries (and even if you had the 10cc it's not like all hope is lost, you just come up with a different treatment plan and go from there).

I think I do have the 10cc band, the bigger one. But, what do you mean a different treatment plan? What does that have to do with the size of the band?

A lot of people claim that with the bigger band, its harder to get to your sweet spot. I have a 10cc band- and my fill doc put in 5cc's on thrusday and Im not hungry at all. I think that everyone is different, dont panic
