nicolek
Hi All Just looking for some thoughts. I had my 1st fill 24 March (1.6cc) and lost 3lb the next few days while on the liquids., However Even though I eat approx 1200 cals a day (3 meals), walk 30-45mins daily I have not lost an ounce.I have scheduled a 2nd fill for 21st April although I do have some restriction in the morning. Do you think the first fill is just an introduction to get your band used to expanding?? Nicolek
kym828
alot depends on the size band you have.. if you have the 4cc band then i think 1.6cc was good for a first fill. everyone is different - it is very much a guessing game with the first few fills. i would advise anyone to go on the side of caution with fills - if you are pb'ing often (more than once or twice a week) i would not recommend a fill for now. you dont want to damage the band. i always figured if i lost 4 lbs a month i was successful but i wanted to lose slow with very few fills. i am down 70 lbs at 17 1/2 months (about 74 wks post-op) - it seems very slow but this time last year i was a size 20 and now i am a 12 so it does work.. just be patient and listen to your body. kim

According to recommendations you should only be able to eat about 1/3 of your pre-band diet. Are you able to eat more than this? If not, then you probably do not need a fill and just need you give your body more time to lose the weight. However, if you are eating more than that and there is not much difference between your diet now and your pre-band diet then you probably do need another fill. What size band do you have....I would guess a 4cc band since your first fill was only 1.6cc. Like Kim said...everyone is going to vary....you could go back and only get 0.5cc fill and that be your sweet spot. Don't get discouraged though. Keep us posted. It sounds like you might need a second fill, from what I have read when you're not losing 1-2 lbs a week while following all the other bandster rules (which it sounds like you are doing) then it is time for another fill...
