calicat
So I'm hearing everything from fasting 6 hours instead of 2, eating light dinner the night before - no mention of breakfast - AHHHH - I'm confused. Has anyone needed an UNFILL from OCC on their first fill?? I would feel alot better if I knew it was fairly uncommon. Thanks!!! >
MamaMichelle
I had my first fill last Friday and Dr. Romero said that there are different rules for your first fill than from all the other fills you will get in your lifetime... 1st fill Rules No food for 6hrs before the fill No water for 1hr before the fill Liquid diet for 3 days after the fill 2nd Fill (and beyond) Rules No Food for 2 hrs before the fill No water for 1hr before the fill No liquid diet after the fill **Dr. R says that he encourages people to go and eat a regular meal 2hrs after these fills to test the restriction level and that way if you are too tight you can return to the OCC within a few hours for an unfill.** It seems that 1.7cc's is the standard/maximum that they put into a 4cc band on your first fill (I say this because out of the 5 of us who got our 1st fills that day 3 got 1.7ccs and 2 got 1.6ccs) I think they do this because hopefully they can avoid needing an unfill from your 1st fill... nicolek
Hi Gals I just had my 2nd fill here in Calgary Canada nearly 4 weeks after my 1st fill at the OCC. My Dr here took out 2cc even though I had only 1.6cc in at the first fill. Today he gave me another .4cc so am I at 2.4cc or 2cc. Not that that really matters as long as I have restriction. mlgpdx
Does anyone know how long you have to wait between fills? :girl_witch:
MamaMichelle
Does anyone know how long you have to wait between fills? :girl_witch: Well I have heard that some people don't feel their fill really kick in till 1-2 weeks after getting it! But I have never heard any specific rules about waiting time between fills so if after 2 weeks you're still not feeling restriction I assume you can go back and get another fill! magpel
I had my first fill just over 3 weeks ago - 1.6 in a 4cc band. 5 days later I had .6cc removed - it became hard just to keep liquids down. I don't really feel any restriction right now, but I don't find myself eating much, either. So I'm not sure if I"m going to get a bit more of a fill or not. While I am really watching what I eat, I think it might be better to have that 'full' feeling instead of just controlling my portions. --- Does that make sense? I eat on a small plate, and eat food better for me, but I never really get that full feeling everyone talks about. I don't let myself eat until I feel full, either. I got my fill locally. I've lost about 10lbs since my fill. I think that's a good amount - they say 1-2lbs per week is a good amount to loose. What does everything else think? SO it's been almost 3lbs a week that I'm loosing. I've been banded now for just over 2 months and have lost 25lbs since being banded. I'm very happy with it. I'm so looking forward to loosing another 50!! Good Luck to us ALL! Peace, Maggie
Dontondan
Wow Maggie! You are doing great! I was stalled for about 2 months (after my first fill) and got another fill last week and am doing so much better. I am down 3 pounds since the second fill so I think that did the trick. I really don't feel "full" much, but I don't feel "hungry" either, so I can manage myself better. I hope to be down another 20 pounds by July! That is some goal for me, but I am determined. MamaMichelle
You are doing awesome Maggie congrats!! I just had my first fill and I too am not feeling that full feeling at this current fill level (1.6ccs). I think that if you are losing weight at your current fill level then you may not NEED a 2nd fill but if you feel that you're the kind of person who's will power eventually fails (totally my history with dieting) the maybe having a small fill will give you that extra boost of a safety net that you might need when the chocolate cake is calling your name, lol. Keep it up babe!

I have heard so many different senarios regarding the charges on the fills. Am I mistaken or is the 1st fill done free, no charge? Just wondering what your experience was. Also, did Dr. Romero offer you a numbing shot first before the saline fill? Much appreciate your info. P.S. you look great in the pics and keep up the great work, you are a great inspiration to us all! Pargirl

MamaMichelle
At the OCC the fills are always "free" but they charge $100 for the fluro and fluro is always required so it will always cost $100 when you go for a fill! There was no numbing shot, but the pain was so minimal that I think another shot would hurt more than the fill needle did, lol.
