Kittycat Posted April 21, 2008 Report Posted April 21, 2008 I was explaining the band to a friend and she came up with a question I had not thought of? My surgeon told me that the underside of the port is metal...so, would a metal detector at the airport or anywhere else detect it? Has anyone had any problems since being banded? Thanks Cathy

fat2nrml Posted April 21, 2008 Report Posted April 21, 2008 Flew home after surgery and didn't set off any alarms!!
Blazn Posted April 21, 2008 Report Posted April 21, 2008 No, your port should not set off any metal detectors. As a matter of fact you can even have an MRI which as you know is a super strong magnet. I believe Dr. Martinez told me the port was made of a titanium alloy that is not metal at all. I don't really know all about metals but I did ask about MRI and he said it was fine so I know if you can have that done you should not set off any metal detectors.
lynna Posted April 21, 2008 Report Posted April 21, 2008 I flew home two days after surgery and went through security with no problems!
