nebsmom
I was banded on 4/29. Everything went great. My belly is a little swollen but looks good. I have horrible gas. I also feel very hungry. I feel like I could eat an entire meal. It just keeps growling and growling. I feel like a lot of my pain is hunger. Any advice???? Also, thanks to everyone for their support. I survived being away from the husband and baby. I slept SSOOOO much and it felt great. Of course it seems like she changed a bunch since I left but both baby and Daddy survived. 4mygirls
Congrats on being banded! I know how you feel coming home to changed kids. It seemed like my 2 yr old had grown up so much! I also felt hungry after I was banded. Keep eating your popicles and broth. It seems to me that the broth was the only thing that made my belly stop growling at me. Take the phasyme (sp) for gas. That seemed to really help me. It also helped to walk around. GAS BE GONE!! Good luck!
paulafox
Congrads on the band!!! Walk Walk Walk!!! It really does help and I got Gas-X strips and they were my best friend. The gas pains are bad and to me the hardest day was like day 5 and 6 after surgery. Don't drink thru straws either it seemed to make mine worse! WAgal
Great to have you back on the forum and I'm so happy all went well with your family as well I'm surprised that you feel hungry though...you sure it's not head hunger? The gas (LOL) you'll have more and more of that then it does subside but I'm gassy now more that I've ever been before banded although not as much as before my first fill. Wendy
I agree with you. I am hungry too and it is not head hunger. Constant rumbling that stops for about an hour after broth and then starts again. One week down and two to go. I hope I figure this out.

One week down and two to go. I hope I figure this out. Have you tried to contact Dr. Miranda as to what you can supplement in your broth to keep you from having that hungry feeling? I guess we are all different. I had lots of grumbling too but it was gas! I just expelled a lot (gross I know). I think there were some ladies in the month of March that had the hunger too. Those ladies please post here and help out with how you remedied the situation. Hanna
Paula Bee
Phazyme is your friend. It is in the gassy section of your pharmacy, Walmart, or where you shop.
Willi333
Hi nebsmom, I got banded on April 28 . I do not have the shoulder pain, but I have gas that I thingk makes my belly rumbling. Although I'm not really hungry - I am fighting the HEAD hunger. OMG I smell food, I see food , I think about eating all the time and I really miss the chewing. Oh well, we have to hang in there a few more weeks and hopefully the gas is gone by then and we feel better if we can eat something with substance. I do however have another problem ... it seems I can not really find the right position to sleep. I am tossing and turning and if I move it feels like someome is pulling on my band ... wonder how long this will last ...
LoraLW
Nebsmom and Ute, please hang in there. I know it is hard, today is my first day to eat a real meal since being banded. Walking really helps with the gas as does the phayzme. Ute try sleeping with a flat pillow under one side so you aren't tossing from a completely flat position this helped me. Good luck ladies keep us posted.
nebsmom
Hello Ladies~ Thanks for all the replies. I have been taking phazyme faithfully since the day of the surgery. I took it with me to the clinic! Also I have been walking quite a bit. Today my gas pains are almost all gone. Im only a couple of days out and feel pretty darn good. Thank goodness because I go back to work tomorrow! I have been trying to really think about this hunger thing. I am 100% certain that my body is truely hungry. Its not head hunger. My belly is moaning and groaning and saying "feed me lady". Today I had a protein shake one day early. I felt so much better for about 2 hours. As far as sleeping goes.... I dont know if you are able to sleep on your back but if you can put a pillow under your knees it helped me the first 2 nights. Now im able to sleep as usual. Also since my daughter is only 19lbs I have been able to pack her around on my right hip w/o any discomfort. I feel like things are getting back to normal. I did the dishes and laundrey today. I really think Ill be better after Im able to eat (drink) the soups! Im pretty excited with how good I feel today. My port site has some minor swelling and bruising but its to be expected! Have a great day everyone and thanks again for your support.
Musiclover
Hi Nebs Mom, I have been wondering how you have been feeling (for those of you reading, I was banded April 29th too). I have terrible shoulder pain from the gas; I have been popping gasx like it is candy! Besides that the actual incisions feel fine, I got home late last night so today is my first day back with my boys (mine are 30 and 35lbs so Dr. Ortiz said I couldn't lift them for 2 weeks, aggghhh) and I am feeling a little overwhelmed with everything that needs to be done because of this non stop gas pain. Once the pain goes away I think I will feel a lot better, my gas doesn't seem to be going anywhere, just rumbling around in there. I am hungry too but too scared to eat so I have only had broth and popsicles. My hubby bought some of the liquid yogurt for me but I'm still a little nervous to try it. 2mara
For those of you that are recommending Phazyme for the gas... can you swallow the soft-gel tabs during the post-op diet? Thanks, Tanya
