bandgroupie
I asked this question just yesterday to a successful bandster and who is still losing weight. She said that she normally has a fruit smoothie for breakfast or 1/2 yogurt. For lunch that day she had 1 taco. For dinner she had the toppings off one slice of pizza. She said that she would have an orange later on. And that she tries to eat between 800-1200 calories per day and eat her protien first. I told my husband that I can't wait to go out to eat with him and eat 1 of his green beans and 1 of his chicken tenders What is a sample of your what your eating? Breakfast, lunch and dinner.......here is the catch and your losing 2-3 pounds a week. Monet
Jenn
Ok, I'm not sure what time line this question is.... but Cassie eats Pasta. Even Dr. Martinez confirmed with her how easy that will go down. Just a thought, not sure where everyone is in their time line. Ok, or you can use this info. for the future bandsters. LOL Jenn
utahmom
Hi Everyone, I got my first fill last Thursday and was able to sit down with Dr Miranda to get some sollid guidelines as to what to eat. It's really very simple. She believes the food pyramid is the best tool for us to use. It is very basic and the equivalence to what a 9 year old would eat. Everyday: GRAINS 6oz VEGETABLES 2 1/2 cups (greens are free) FRUIT 1 1/2 cups DAIRY 2cups PROTEIN (meat, beans fish) 5 oz FAT 3 to 5 servings If you need me to, I can break it down further with examples for each food group. Good Luck and Happy Eating to all!! Arlene

nothereanymore
Here’s what I do to really loose fast. Dutch chocolate Isopure protein shake in the morning. Lunch Protein: Choose your weapon Tuna (small pop top can and I can only eat about ½ can) Chicken (1/4 of a breast chopped up) I buy the sliced roast or sliced turkey from the deli and chop it up Veggies: Whatever looks good, chopped into bit size pieces so I remember to chew) Fruit: Whatever looks good, chopped into bit size pieces so I remember to chew) Carbs I buy different flavors of good for me wheat crackers at trader Joes. Dinner Whatever I’m cooking for the family I keep my protein out and its pretty plain, I keep my veggies clear and now always have fruit on hand and can eat the carbs fine as long as I chew. It’s really portion control, I also purchased a small set of pretty plates just for me so my food wouldn’t look out of sorts. (Its generally just a tablespoon of each topic to start) And I keep my fills up to date and tight and don’t drink with my meals. Alcohol is out of the picture unless I’m keeping up with my weight goals. (So I really try to keep up – love my cab and my treat of a sour apple martini on the weekends). Don’t forget to work on burning those calories, nothing better than putting on Beyonce’ and dancing around for about an hour, (I would have hated to see what I looked like doing this at my high, but right now since I can finally look in the mirror and surprise I look damn good for a 46 year old) And don't forget to move those hips! *Quick note - my calcium comes from my latte, which is always the double tall skinny vanilla. 100 calories
Blazn
I see you post a lot for Cassie, who is she and why doesn't she ever post herself or is she under another name. Are you her friend or some other relation? Jenn is Cassie's mom. Cassie is featured on Dr. Ortiz's website and in his book. She is the youngest banded patient ever. She was banded at age 13. She was also featured on Oprah on a show about lap band. She is a beautiful young girl who I am sure is still in school and very busy so doesn't have a lot of time to post. So her mom does it for her. Here is the link to Cassie's story http://obesitycontrolcenter.com/success_patient_cassie.php

Jenn
I see you post a lot for Cassie, who is she and why doesn't she ever post herself or is she under another name. Are you her friend or some other relation? In response to your question, I post for Cassie who is my 17 year old daughter whom I took at the age of 13 years old and was the 2nd youngest child done by Dr. Ortiz and Dr. Martinez. She is mentioned on the Home page of the OCC and she is in Dr. Ortiz Lap Band Book. Cassie is a typical teen and she is busy with School, work and helping me with 4 of her siblings when I need her to. She gets on the her MYSPACE and the OCC Forum as often as she can to help teens . Cassie and I where just recently guests of the Oprah Show and it was based on Teen Obesity and I was asked why I would take Cassie over the border. I answer a lot of questions on Cassie's behalf because we deal with people every day, those that are parents trying to make the decision, those who are teens trying to make the decision, and those who have made the decision and need support. Cassie and I also filmed in TJ with the Oprah film crew . Also we went a few weeks ago and took two relatives down to have the surgery. We are a team, always have been a team. I remember things Cassie went through and we talk every day of her experiences and how it can help others in their decisions or struggles. After being on the Oprah Show it brought more information about the Lap Band to people who did not know about it and the opportunities that where there for them if they could not comply with insurance requirements. When Cassie and I go to the OCC we are there for everyone. We will talk and help everyone in any way we can. We want everyone to feel that they are not alone and make them as comfortable as possible. We have met many people through our experiences together and I can not begin to tell you how wonderful all these people on the forum are and how many lives the forum has touched, and we have touched. Thanks for asking, Jenn

I noticed you said yuo make sure the fill stays tight, how do you know when to get the fills and how often do you find you need the fills? I go for my first fill on the 19th and I'm really looking forward to it. I still have a tight feeling in my chest (the band I suppose) so my appetite is low. Are you suppose to feel a tightness in the chest? Thanks much, Pargirl
nothereanymore
Its really based on how hungry I feel, and how much I can fit while eating. I have pretty consistent weight loss, and as I loose weight my band loosens up. I generally go every 60 days. I did have tightness in my chest when I first had my band, but it went away. (I think it was sore muscles) And also I can only eat small amounts and I don't wait and then eat more - when I'm done, I' done and I walk away. I know someone who eats like that and her weight loss is minimum. At first I really measured and weighed my food and then tracked calories and proteins to have a good understanding of what I was putting into my body. I was not very good at working out so I did hire a personal trainer for a month to get a good idea of what it would take to loose weight and gain muscle. I now do it completely on my own and take fun classes to keep me motivated. Also I've heard often about the sweet spot, but never hit one, and since I'm almost done with my weight loss I don't think I'll need another. (I hope not) Good luck, it is different for everyone. (And par girl I'm a golfer also, and with my weight loss I thought I'd hit my drives shorter - actually since I can swing farther back and I'm more muscular I can actually hit it further)! Also and I've posted this before, but I love the fit and fresh smart portions products, this one is on sale and it includes food scale portion tray food scale, cutting board with folding legs and measuring cup, which helps you to understand how much you are actually eating. http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp...amp;catid=45532 Thanks, Lisa
