LAP BAND...A $ APPETITE SUPPRESANT

Recommended Posts

Well, we ll know that the lap band is a tool ......and helps control our portion sizes. Has anyone returned to a failed diet from the past and has found that they can suceed now that they have this tool in place?

Hi there!

I just wanted to let you know that I have the same questions as you do. I am going to TJ Tuesday and will have surgery Wed. Afterwards, I was thinking of doing a modified Atkins, but would like to have feedback from those bandsters that I have lost. My biggest fear is getting the band and not loosing.

By the way, my daughter's name is Dallas Monai and we call her Monai. I have never met another Monai (or Monet)

Love the way you spell that...... thanks for the idea to change my name or the spelling!

Yes, I would suggest Southbeach.....the bomb! As far as the worry that you may not lose weight.....you will the band has it own bag of tricks. It will work for you. Just learn your band!

Jacquie... one of my biggest fears as well is not losing weight after being banded. One of the reasons that I often failed on diets, is because you work so hard, and get on the scale, and for one or two weeks see no weight loss, and say to hell with it. I am starting counselling next Tuesday. Something that my dr. recommended.

I think counseling is a great tool When I get back from my surgery I am seriously going to look into it

I have joined wieght watchers with my dad and my sister ( niether one of them have had surgery, but the weight loss struggle runs in the family) I have steadily lost 2 pounds a week, one week I gained 1 pound, and the very next week lost 3 pounds. I like the accountability each week at weigh in. I have had more emotional issues than I ever thought I would. I have cried over food many times, and have eaten too much and pb'd more than I should. The mental hunger has been extremely difficult for me. My stomach is full but my mind says one more bite....but having lots of family support has been very helpful. I truly believe that having a support group is so important to your success. I read here so much more than I post and the information here is great. I love reading about everyone's success and I have read lots of advice here. I am also very picky about a lot of my food, right now I do like shredded wheat in the morning I eat about 10 - 12 mini wheats (about 1/4 cup) with 1/4 cup of 2% milk. I have either chicken salad made with canned fat free chicken or a grilled chicken breast from Carl's Jr for lunch. I'm currently still hooked on those :) and usually a little bit of whatever the family is having for dinner. I have made a great vegetable lasagna using zucchini in place of the pasta and we use mostly chicken or pork tenderloin at dinner. I also make sure that I take a multivitamin every morning. I have good restriction from my last fill. So I eat about 1/2 cup to 1 cup at a time. I drink lots of water and crystal light and have been making back to the gym three times a week. I finally got under 200 pounds...it has been 5 years since I have been under 200 pounds. ><'
