Using credit card to pay

Recommended Posts

I read in the paperwork somewhere that if you use a credit card as payment for surgery, there is a fee of $300. I emailed Rene and asked what my balance was, and also requested a semi-private room so I can save $250. I was told that my balance is $ EDIT - but it doesn't make sense to me because the surgery total is like $ EDIT... take away the $250 for booking semi-private room and you get $ EDIT. Take away the $500 initial deposit and that is $ EDIT... so my question is when do they add in the additional $300? I was going to pay my balance over paypal, so once I do that does the extra $300 get added then? I am confused. HELP!:unsure::huh:

I was told that if I paid the whole fee at one time via credit card that they would not charge me the credit card fee. THis was no big deal - instead of paying the deposit and two weeks later paying the balance, it sounded fair to me. My husband paid the card off at the first bill, so we had no interest either.

I also saved $500 off of the surgery because I was offered a semi private room.

Call Lori and ask her to help you calculate what your charges are, what you owe, etc. She's great!

Dawnie... I asked about the discount for a semi-private room, and Carolyn said $250. When I mentioned that I had heard someone got $500 off for it, she said no, it's only $250. Wonder why you got $500? That's great.

It's interesting how all the prices differ. When my friend and I scheduled our banding, we had no clue how the hospital and hotel rooms were set up so we offered to share a room in the hopes it would save us some money. We both paid $ EDIT each. However, we each had a private hospital room AND we each had a separate hotel room. We would have shared the hotel room, in fact that's what we expected.

There were only 6 of us that got banded on 4/21 so they didn't even use the "semi-private" rooms.

I guess unless you ask, you don't get!

I have no clue ..... maybe it all comes down to how many are scheduled a day and if they have a slot open and how bad they want to fill that spot? I am clueless. I appreciated their telling me about the semi private room and offering me the discount. <whisper> Call Lori! :P

I agree...I dealt with Lori who offered the surgery originally @ $ EDIT, then went down to $ EDIT.

Thanks, but I've already got Carolyn ticked at me once, and not sure I want to ask Lori. Maybe I'll use a different email address, and just casuallly ask.

You can always go to your bank, take a cash advance and get a certified bank check.

It cost me $6.00 at my bank. Then all you have to do it fax a copy of it to OCC and bring the check with you.

Much easier for everyone!

Oh! Why do they charge extra? Because the credit card company charges a fee for each transaction to the merchant! Businesses lose money on credit card transactions!!

be careful with the semi private rooms! i wouldve gone crazy bc there is no tv!!!! just a warning!

You can always share a tv in someone elses room. That's what we did for the Lady in the semi room while I was there. Plus we spent more time in the halls talking then we did in our rooms.

Also be careful using pay pal - aren't you still using a credit card? If so, you'll have the credit card service fee.

And as far as TV, who had time to watch TV???

There's no credit card charge if you use pay pal. I will be e-mailing Rene to see if I can get a semi-private room.
