Evette and Misty...

It went really good. It was just like you said. Hardly even felt it - kinda like an ant bite. So my fill....3cc in a 4cc band. Wow - I know. But I watched the barium pass through and it went through fine. I just posted my full experience if you want to read it there.

Thanks for asking though. So I see you are ready for your next fill. I hope I won't need one for a while. Keep us posted.

Hey - what are Dr. Romero's post-fill guidelines?

Sorry I missed your other post, my mom is in town for the weekend and I haven't been on the board much so I am trying to play catch up, I haven't even made it to the other parts of the forum yet!!

Wow 3cc's that's a big fill, congrats for what I've seen the OCC's standard fill schedule seems to be (for a 4cc band):

1st fill level 1.5 - 1.7cc

2nd fill level 2.3 - 2.5 cc

3rd fill level 2.6 - 3.0 cc

I'm not really sure why Dr. O makes it a point to tell every patient that they may only need 1 or 2 fills in a lifetime if they return to the OCC for their fills, I mean maybe he's just trying to get people to return so he gets more $$ but I have yet to hear of anyone who only needed 1-2 fills based on the above schedule.

Dr. Romero says liquids for 3 days after your first fill, and then any other fills you get he wants you to eat a few hours after in case it's too tight so you can get an unfill before leaving TJ.. what did the Fill Center in Ga tell you?

Hi Michelle,

I was just thinking about that too (what Dr. O said about the 2 fill in a lifetime) and was wondering what the OCC would do different than for example the Fill Center here in Roswell ?? I have a few more weeks to get my first fill and have to decide where to go

How is your fill working for you so far?

I think that since the OCC is careful to ALWAYS use the Fluro for the fill and if there are any issues they can fix it I somewhat understand why he would claim the OCC is better than the Fill Center USA because there Fluro is not required (it's like $150 more) and if they puncture your tubing or some other issue comes up they will not fix it.

But if the Fill Center USA is willing to give that much of a fill (and they offer a free readjustment if you are too tight within 72hours) I'm not sure returning to the OCC is as necessary as Dr. O makes it seem.

I mean I had a great time going back to TJ for my fill and my experience was great but it does really make you think!!

P.S. I posted about my need for a 2nd fill here: http://www.lapbandforum.com/index.php?showtopic=5972

I guess I would not want to have a fill without fluoro anyways and Roswell does not do it without as far as I know. I just think if I go to TJ and have to travel back the next day and THEN feel that I'm maybe to tight I could not just turn around.

Roswell is about 30 miles or only 10 miles from work so i would probably feel more comfortable there in case something needs to be adjusted ....

On the other hand I would love to go back to TJ just for them to double check that everything is in the right spot ;-)

Thanks for the info!!!!

You're right. Darlene will not perform a fill without fluoro. I too, wanted to go back to TJ for my first fill but it was going to cost the same thing to go back there and I certainly can't go back every time so I decided to go ahead and set up with Fill Centers. That way I wouldn't have to pay $500-600 for my first fill to TJ and $500-600 for my second to Fill Centers - now my next fill will be $285 with fluoro. All went great and Darlene does check the band to make sure it is in place before any filling. She will do this every time. She also told me that if - IF - IF something every happens and the pouch gets stretched out they can release the fill and (it takes some time) allow the stretched part of the pouch to fall down through the band and then re-fill. Although I pray that never happens it is reassuring to know. I just feel like after several years that pouch will have more elasticity and may stretch easier - so it eases my mind to know there are options.

Day 1 - Warm clear liquids

Day 2 - Any temp clear liquids

Day 3 - Full liquids (creamy soups, etc)

Day 4 - Soft foods (mashed potatoes, etc)

Day 5 - Advance as tolerated.

They really only give a 3 day recommendation but Darlene added Day 4-5 as a common rule of thumb.
