Finally on Track!

Recommended Posts

I won't bore you all again with my sob story about my difficulty with the pre-op diet, but I've finally lost 11 lbs! Just 1 lbs away from the 12lbs Dr. Miranda said I needed to lose to have the surgery! When I emailed her on Thursday to let her know I had lost 6, she wasn't very subtle about it not being enough for surgery. So, I cracked down this weekend, with 3 Slim Fasts a day and some LOW LOW cal snacks if I got hungry. I've only had water since Wednesday and I can tell it's making a difference. This pre-op journey has been so hard for me and it's nice to finally see some progress. May 9th, here I come!!

Looking forward to meeting you Alana! It's fantastic that you can pull off the weight loss at the last minute. I, on the other hand, have lost more than required because I KNEW I would do some stress eating the last couple of days and I was right. Thank goodness I don't have much at the house to eat!

Hang on! Just a few more days and we'll be there.

Jena

Thanks! I'm pretty sure if it hadn't have been for those 16 days of period hell, I would have done fine. I haven't had trouble with staying on track with the diet portion, it was my body that was so out of whack. Thank goodness that's over! Can't wait to see you there, Jena!

Alana, way to go on the weight loss. That is really an accompolishment. Your determination only shows how well you will do with the band. You are a beautiful girl and I wish you the best. Good luck this week and keep us posted.

Alana- Not sure if you have seen this SNL skit/commercial but your 2 week period story made me think of it... It's hilarious!!

Ha, yes! My boyfriend and I are avid SNL watchers and we loved that skit. We even caught it recently when they had it as a re-run and thought how appropriate it was playing during my "ordeal".

I didn't get that crazy, just a little bit. :)

Wow, thank you! What a sweet compliment! I really appreciate that I noticed you're in GA..I'm in Tallahassee (a few miles south of GA). Where in GA is Roswell? Maybe we'll have to form a support group in our area!

Um, I just read your profile, Blazn...and it said you're a nurse at CRMC. That wouldn't happen to be Capital Regional Medical Center, would it?? Cause that's like 5 miles down the road from my house? One of my best friends is a respiratory therapist there - Betsy Bartel. I hope it is, would love to meet up!

Awesome Alana. We'll see you there. I can't believe I fly out day after tommorow!

I'm officially sick to my stomach in honor of flying out on Wednesday. What are we doing? Thank goodness we'll all be there to hold each others hands.

I leave tomorrow night to spend a night in Valdosta, GA (where I'm flying out of, about an hour away from where I live) and then leave from there at 6:30 Thursday morning...I'm getting butterflies! I have to pack tonight, so I'm right there with you, Jena! Just keep repeating to yourself, I am just one step closer to a healthier me!". (I saw that on the lapbandtalk website, so I can't take credit for it)

See you ladies there!!!

I have been packed for over a week. I am not really nervous at all. I just can't wait. We leave home at 5:30 tommorow morning to get to the airport for our flight. My husband is very supportive but my teen age daughter who is usually the sweetest thing on earth is being really obnoxious about the whole thing. I have chosen to keep it quiet outside of my immediate family and now I am wishing I hadn't told her.

Don't take her attitude too much to heart. She may just be nervous about you having a medical procedure done. That might be making her act out - I know I went through something similar when I was young and my mom was having a tumor removed from her thyroid gland - it scared the hell out of me and I acted out. I'm sure once you come home and she sees that everything is fine, it'll get better. :) Don't let it get you down!
