Alana Posted May 7, 2008 Report Posted May 7, 2008 Did anyone else start taking these during their pre-op diet? Dr. Miranda recommended them to me and I finally found them and have been taking it for about 2 weeks now. All I can say is....YUCK. I have no problem swallowing pills, never have, but these are SO hard to get down! They get stuck, they taste bad, and I almost always gag. I even threw up a little once! Has anyone else had a problem with them? I know they're good for blocking fat, but geez! :bad:
utahmom Posted May 7, 2008 Report Posted May 7, 2008 I got them in small capsule form, take two every day. No problem with bad taste, look for the capsule.
Alana Posted May 7, 2008 Author Report Posted May 7, 2008 I will have to, because these tablets are icky! Thanks, utahmom!
trulytangledgrl Posted May 7, 2008 Report Posted May 7, 2008 Alana - Not only are the chromium picolinate good for fat blocking, they also assist the body in maintaining stable levels of insulin. I have polycystic ovarian syndrom which causes insulin resistance, and in addition to my prescribed meds by my doc, she also has me take chromium picolinate daily to keep my blood sugars stable and level. So, just another little tidbit you might be interested in knowing Level blood sugar = LESS HUNGER! WOOT WOOT!
Kimra Posted May 7, 2008 Report Posted May 7, 2008 I felt the same way!!! BLAH!! I finally found one that is shaped more oblong and it went down amazingly well!! It was almost enjoyable to take because for once I didn't gag it down or throw up. The name of the new brand I got is called..... Solaray
sunshinegirl Posted May 7, 2008 Report Posted May 7, 2008 I'm taking chromium GTF instead of picolinate (2 a day). I couldn't get it at my local walmart so I bought the GTF. I read an interesting article on the difference. Here's the link http://forum.lowcarber.org/archive/index.php/t-208268.html
Alana Posted May 7, 2008 Author Report Posted May 7, 2008 I just read up on it and saw all the other benefits. Thanks, trulytangledgrl! I think I will be looking for the capsules, though - these vitamin-style ones are just too yucky.
Fatcat Posted May 7, 2008 Report Posted May 7, 2008 Hi Alana, I took CP for a very very long time and to NO benefit. Mydoctor said the average person does not need them nor will they benefit from them. However, if you are pre-diabetic or diabetic they should help. Best, Helen
