Lisa
Patty, Good luck!!! It was a difficult decision to be banded, but now I just feel blessed! I can highly recommend that you contact "marys." She talked to me online and on the telephone. Mary helped me to stay calm, learn from her experience, and to be realistic as to what to expect. (Thanks, Mary...you've been a great support to me!) NotAsPleased
definitely find out the downs to the lapband as well as the ups, such as you may only loose up to 50% of your excess weight, which means if you are 100 lbs overweight, you may only loose 50 of those pounds and still be obese. LoriBecky
The 50% statistic is the same as gastric bypass. It is considered a success if you lose and keep off at least 50% of your excess weight. That doesn't mean you can't or won't lose more than that. Its up to you. The band is just a tool, you have to do the work, learn new habits and make healthy choices.
