The Redhead
I'm going for a fill on May 29th. I was thinking about arranging for my boyfriend and I to have our teeth whitened while we are there. My boyfriend is VERY afraid of dentists. He hasn't been in quite a while (which is crazy since he has 100% dental coverage [but not whitening]). If I tell him he'll worry for days before or back out or just tell me not to do it. If I just book it he might be upset (though he'll get over it). I know he'll love it when he's done. He is a smoker and really could use the whitening. ...so your opinions please... should I go ahead and book for the two of us... or leave well enough alone? Allcdngirl
Hey Denise... that's a tough one, as I heard the whitening leaves your teeth quite sensitive for a few days. If it does, and he's miserable, I don't think I would do it. Why don't you just mention that you were thinking of getting done while you're down there, and see what he says. Just feel him out. Congrat's on your 14 lbs!
calicat
If he's afraid of dentists - I wouldn't surprise him with that gift. Tell him that's what you want to do for him, and see if he accepts. If he doesn't, you can spend the money on something else and have a happier man because of it!
FLAN
I'm with Cali, I would mention it to him if he doesn't want to have it done. You could always go with a couple massage while you are in MX. I think that would be a fun gift to have. I am thinking of doing that for my hubby. I guess I like romantic stuff though.
bandgroupie
Hey there RedHead, I wouldn't surprise him with a ZOOM whitening. If he is afraid of dentists and he hasn't been to the dentist for quite a while, I would assume he needs other dental services done first: cleaning, possible fillings, etc. It would be GREAT if he could experience your ZOOM whitening, and see how you feel about it, and maybe you can convince him how important good dental health is. Find a dentist who will be gentle with a cleaning and if necessary, even numb him if his teeth are sensitive to water. Getting him to the dentist for regular cleanings would be the best gift you could give him. SO, now .... if you want to surprise him with something while you two are in Tijuana, I suggest you take a walk on the wild side! And post photos! ha ha I'm going for a fill on May 29th. mona-camille
I have sensitive teeth and cannot have whitening done because the pain would be unbearable to me. My dentist has even advised against it. So I wouldn't do that for him if he already has a fear of dentists.
The Redhead
Well... I talked to my boyfriend about whitening and he said he wants to get it done. He still seemed hesitant about it though. I have another problem though... I have a couple of very sensitive teeth right now. I'm gettting my teeth checked and cleaned next week so I'll ask the hygienist about it.
