lock27 Posted May 10, 2008 Report Posted May 10, 2008 Hi there!1Does anyone have any suggestions for constipation? I am three days pre-op and really starting to get uncomfortable. Dr. Miranda, recommends metamucil capsules twice a day. They really help me. good Luck >
Blazn Posted May 10, 2008 Report Posted May 10, 2008 I got my first fill Saturday and had to drink barium. Before I knew it it was Wednesday and I had not had a BM. I bought the Equate brand (Walmart Brand) Milk of Mag and it worked within 3 hours. Maybe you could try that - it was only like $4. Oh...but now that I think about it I did not have a BM for 4 days post-op. Think about it - you are on liquids only - you do not have a lot to come out. All liquid waste will be excreeted through your urine. So don't freak out yet. But if you are worried you can just try the Milk of Mag.
Paula Bee Posted May 10, 2008 Report Posted May 10, 2008 Or, undiluted apple juice.. Dr. Miranda said to dilute it half and half with water because it caused loose bowels. It worked for me.
sphynxmomma Posted May 10, 2008 Report Posted May 10, 2008 While I was preggers withmy girls I had really bad constipation and the only thing that ever worked for me was a large cup of black coffee. I don't know why but it worked every time.
calicat Posted May 10, 2008 Report Posted May 10, 2008 Walking helped me out. I made me thirsty too which helped me drink more.
fat2nrml Posted May 10, 2008 Report Posted May 10, 2008 I didn't have a BM until 6 days post-op and was miserable!! I finally had to use a supository [the bullet of health!] and I got relief!! I wouldn't wait much longer, it's harder the longer you wait. :lb12: Best wishes, Darlene
Dontondan Posted May 11, 2008 Report Posted May 11, 2008 Never had that problem until I was banded, now I use the metamucil capsules when I need them.
MamaMichelle Posted May 11, 2008 Report Posted May 11, 2008 I made sure to add Benefiber to all of my liquid meals and that kept me regular. I have also heard people mention MiraLax being a miracle worker, it used to be only by prescription but now you can buy it at CVS or Walmart.
Maytee Posted May 11, 2008 Report Posted May 11, 2008 My Dr. recommended Mirelax. It was a perscription only and now its' available over the counter. Its in powder form and I mixed it with any drink. It's tastless and I had no cramping at all. Maytee
