sphynxmomma
I start my pre op diet on Monday an it seems like for the last month I've been eating and drinking like it will be my last meal and last drink. Instead of having 2 drinks on the weekend it's been more like 7. I feel terrible! Tell me I'm not alone and others have done this????
Kittycat
I think it's perfectly normal to think that way. When I made the decision to go for lapband surgery, I did the same thing for about a week and ate everything in sight...then decided that it might be easier to transition into my new way of life by cutting down on snacking and fatty foods and of course drinking diet coke, so I tried that for awhile and lost 10 lbs in about 3 weeks. But...now I am back to getting nervous about surgery on June 10th and thinking every meal is my last one and eating whatever I want again. I totally know how you feel and don't be too hard on yourself. If you want to enjoy life now, do it! Take care, Cathy
Blazn
I start my pre op diet on Monday an it seems like for the last month I've been eating and drinking like it will be my last meal and last drink. Instead of having 2 drinks on the weekend it's been more like 7. I feel terrible! Tell me I'm not alone and others have done this???? I know how you feel. I did the same thing. During my pre-op diet I used the excuse...."but I won't get to eat like this anymore!!!" Don't feel bad - you are not the only one rowing in that boat!! Dontondan
We've all been there! I kept thinking "I have to eat this now, I will never be able to have it again!" before my pre-op. You I can still eat, just later......it is all a mind thing. Now there are things that I would love that don't work with the band, but if the craving comes, I know that I will PB or it will get stuck and the craving will go away. You can still eat though, but the volume goes way down as well as the appetite, when everything is working the way it should. One of the hardest things to do is to be waiting to start the pre-op diet....wait to start the liquids......wait to start the mushies....wait t start eating "real" food. I know my life was revolving around what and when I could eat it. My first food date was burned into my memory and it was all I thought of, the deprivation, and it drive me crazy. Those that don't wait, but schedule their band right away have it a lot easier. I had to wait 3 months for my date and it was sooooo hard as it was in my mind all the time that I wouldn't be able to eat what I liked ever again. It really isn't like that though, just seems like it. Hope this helps. Just remember, you will always have this forum to bounce ideas or just get it off your chest. BeBe
I totally did it! Went to all my favorite restaurants and ate all my favorite things - just in case I wouldn't ever be able to enjoy them again.
calicat
I did it and gained 13 pounds - so be careful!! I started getting fidgety after I signed the paperwork. I was feeling desperate to enjoy the foods I thought I'd no longer be able to have anymore. Funny thing is....now, after my surgery, I really don't miss those foods that I gorged out on!! Enjoy the tastes, but try not to have too much!!!
Allcdngirl
I posted a similar post a couple of weeks back. I was struggling, and eating everything, like it was my last meal as well. I finally just ate so much one night, that I literally felt like I was going to puke, and then next day I started pre-op. I'm glad I did. I was soooooooooo done! But now as the day to surgery gets closer, I'm finding it difficult again. Something that we all do, and struggle with, but we can only do our bests. I haven't heard of them cancelling any surgeries due to lack of lost pre-op weight.
