BeBe
So it seems there's a lot of frustration on the board lately. Some people have hit plateaus, some are not losing (or losing as fast as they would like - and hey, I'm in that boat too!), and some may have gained a pound or three. But we all know that weight loss isn't just about fitting into those skinny jeans again. It's about getting healthy too. It's about learning new eating habits. Getting into those jeans is just the icing on the cake. So... tell me something you did today in accordance with your long term weight loss goals that you are proud of. For instance, yesterday, when I picked up my oldest son from his fast food job, he had a bag of food with him (chicken sandwich and mac & cheese bites) and was smelling up the whole car with it. We drove down the street and my 10 year old son complained about being hungry too, so we pulled into Jack in the Box and I got him a chicken sandwich and me, an ice water. I was seriously tempted to order something (that chicken smelled so good!) - even something low cal, like the chicken fajita pita - but I didn't give in to temptation. Today, my milestone was getting up and eating something within half an hour (I usually wait an hour or two, which isn't good for the metabolism). It's hard for me to do that, because I'm not hungry as soon as I wake up - but I know that it will help me in the long run. What did you do? Did you have the strength to say no to someone's birthday cake at the office? Take the stairs instead of the elevator? Park at the end of the parking lot to get a little extra exercise? Order a burger without a bun? Do tell... ;-)
Kimra
We had a GINOURMOUS dinner for Mothers Day at my parents... For dessert.... an amazing truffle and homemade peach cobbler with homemade icecream!!! Why do they have to do this to me!!!! Everyone was eating and making everything look soooooooooo dang good!!! and all i could do was sit and ................................... drink my EAS shake! Musiclover
Yesterday I was driving my kids home from the park and they both wanted french fries (we were driving past the golden arches) so I went through the drive thru, got a small fries and choc milk for each of them and nothing for me. I was very proud of myself but to be honest I didn't even really want it...which wouldn't have stopped me from chowing down in the past.
The Redhead
I was 'banded' on April 10, 2008. Day by day, since then, I have been trying to make better food choices not just for me, but for my kids and boyfriend as well. I'm TRYING to say NO to junk food drive-throughs and TRYING to make better selections at the grocery store. I'm also TRYING to sneak healthier chooses into packed lunches. It's a a REAL struggle since so often I have associated food with love. Ya know what I mean...? ....I love my kids so I'm buying them the treats they ask for. Let me tell you this is HARD. I've set a pattern for all of us and I'm taking FULL RESPONSIBILITY for my family, UP UNTIL NOW! (My kids are 16 and 18 and I can't always stop them from eating crap), but I can stock the fridge with ONLY good stuff and not bring home the high-fat, high-calorie treats. If I can pull this off it will DEFINITELY be a MILESTONE for all of us. I keep telling myself... if I'm getting healthier and improving my chances of a LONG healthy life and living until I'm 95 (or so), my kids better be healthy enough then to take care of me when I am that old. LoraLW
Well yesterday I realized at 3 in the afternoon that I hadn't eaten. So when I finally ate dinner I felt nauseated. So this morning I ate breakfast (omelette) wasn't hungry for lunch so I had a protein shake. I feel I am doing really good as fast food doesn't even sound nor smell appealing to me. Paula Bee
I, too, have no interest in breakfast, and have sort of "cheated" by counting the coffeemate in my morning coffee as breakfast. Today, I used my protein powder in my coffee.. makes yummy mocha. I still feel like I am "cheating," but the difference is that I am not.

I've been lucky in that I haven't had to go anywhere, and I can control what's being cooked in my house - which GREATLY reduces temptation. Alana
Every Wednesday at my work we have "bagel day" and a local bakery supplies the most delicious bagels. The whole office smells of baked bread. Of course I couldn't have any even if I wanted to since I'm only 6 days post op, but I ignored them and drank my gatorade and sipped on half a slim fast. Plus, I went home during lunch and weighed myself and I've lost 21 lbs since starting this journey!
Painter
You guys are all so funny. All I can say is I have stayed on the pre-op diet and I made a list for myself of why I am doing this. I know that sounds strange so close to banding but I want to remember if I don't feel well exactly all the things that made me want this. I must say though that now I read all your posts I'm hungry! Kimra I can't wait to meet you. I think your picture is appropriate because you sound like you are too funny. Here's to being "normal" girls (and guys). So far so good no hunger pains yet. =D> I have to get down to 250lbs before my surgey, so wish me luck. Denise

mom12
I am 7 days post op and have not cheated once. I am very proud of myself for that and the most amazing thing is that it really hasn't been that hard. I just had to make up my mind to do it. Caroline
Reading all ofyour posts gives me hope that I can really do this. Thank you. I am finishing the second day of my pre-op diet and so far so good. I went and got sugarfree jello and some light Progresso soups. That has made it much more doable. MamaMichelle
Here's my milestone for the week... I was going through my closet trying to weed out the clothes that are too big and test out what is finally fitting again (like everyone else I have clothes ranging from size 10 to size 24) So I came across this dress that is a juniors size 12, I actually wore it in high school and college when I was a size 8-10. Anyways I was able to squeeze into it, it's way too tight (like streetwalker tight) but I took a pic anyways because I was so excited!!

Paula Bee
Milestones in my Mom's life.. I am making it work... My mom was a victim of a loan scam targeting the elderly, and as a consequence, after the siblings and I have spent two years of trying to make it right, she is having to declare bankruptcy. The forclosure on the house should be in the next month, and Mom has YEARS of paperwork saved from the last 32 years. It definately looks totally ocd, but before she wouldn't let us look at the stacks in her room. Some of that stuff is 32 years old. I have literally have to strong arm her to go through every stack in her room, because she wants to read each one to see if she needs to save it. She was an accountant, and thinks of it all as the "mental mindset of an accountant." We have made a "to be shredded" box and sit and shred til the shredders get too hot and we have to stop. I have snuck no telling how much junk and shredded it. She even had bank statements and the checks for over 15 years... ugh.. hope I never see a paper check again. Anyway, I have managed to pursuade/make her let go of the past paperwork and shred bags and bags of stuff.. Literally over 15 garbage bags of shred now. She is really getting into it now and loves to shred whenever she can. So, I feel like we have had a breakthrough milestone. Blessed to be helping my mom.... BeBe
Nice dress Michelle! And congrats to everyone else on your milestones!! WOO HOOO!!! Today, I had a crappy food day - was doing great until about 5 p.m. when I popped some egg rolls into the over and ate all 4 of them! ACK!!! 170 calories each!!! However, that 680 calories plus the 2 protein bars I ate earlier in the day only added up to little less than 1100 calories - so still not too bad. I won't beat myself up for it because today was still a milestone day. Every time I went up my stairs today, I stepped fast on the first one about 20 times and then RAN up the stairs. As I go up and down about 10-15 times/day, this really added up. Go me!
Paula Bee
My milestone today is not eatting out of stress.. There is a lot of it around me right now.
BeBe
My milestone for yesterday was ignoring PMS hunger pangs and distracting myself with things I enjoy (like doing karaoke online). I had two protein bars and a lean cuisine... but what I wanted was CHOCOLATE! CHOCOLATE! And MORE CHOCOLATE!!! LOL!!! Today, instead of eating, I cleaned my office (finally).
